We love running contests here as it is a great way for our members to show their capping talents and involvement in the forum. We understand here at the site that what makes people come here and what makes this the fastest growing sports forums is the fact we have incredibly talented and intelligent cappers here and we want to keep it that way. Part of that process, is having great contests and keeping that spirit of great picks and great insight coming.
After all, we have given away more than $8,000 in prizes I believe.
Ryangene is typically great at thinking of contests, but we have others who have had great ideas.
What I need from you is a creative idea for another contest. Let us know and I'll put up money towards it for a little more excitement. The moderators of Vytas, Taco, Abovethevig, Stockpicker and myself will decide on which one is the best.
thanks and let's roll for a great footaball season this fall.

last year one of the threads that really took off was about the 8 parlays that I do for small $ on sat and sundays..There were about 10 people who decided to post parlays in that thread. Pretty interesting 2 of the 10 almost hit. Not mine though I went 1-7 that day and 0-8 the next..never forget that weekend...haha
Why not have a 5 team parlay contest. 5 teamers are awfully tough so you can mix and match any combo of college and pro football games. Or make it the 1st person to hit a 4 teamer in both college and pro. All games have to be posted before noon east on saturday(you can post anytime mon-noon on sat)
I like it. Parlays are always fun. I think as long as you keep it to odds of no more than -120, this would be cool. By definition if you limited it to football sides and totals, it would do it. But, if you are going to include MLB and/or moneyline plays in foots, then you'd have to have an odds limitation.
Lets put together a nice tough one.
5 2-team parlays in a row. Mixed, 1 dog, 1 favorite in the parlay.

I say a survivor contest. Not like the traditional ones but one where you must select a QB that will throw for over 300 yards, OR a RB that will run over 100, or a WR that will receive over 110 yards.... If you get it right in week 1 you move onto week 2.
I do like the idea of a last capper standing challenge.

I like it. Survivor contests are fun. We can mix in some easier stuff with some harder stuff. It would be fun. How about:
wk 1: Pick a favorite to win.
wk 2: Pick a team to win ats.
wk 3. Pick a dog to win
wk 4. Pick a player to have over 75 yards rushing.
wk 5: Pick a player to have over 50 yards receiving.
wk 6: Pick a player to have over 225 passing yards.
wk 7: Pick a starting QB to have less than 150 yards passing.
wk 8: Pick a starting RB to have less than 70 yards rushing.
wk 9: Pick a QB to throw a TD.
wk 10: Pick a RB to score a TD.
wk 11: Pick a WR to score a TD.
wk 12: Pick a kicker to hit a field goal.
wk 13: Pick a player to record a sack.
wk 14: Pick a team to record more total yards on offense than their opponent.
wk 15: Pick a team to record an interception.
wk 16: Pick a defensive team to score a td.

I'm a big fan of capping my favorite teams, not wagering so much though, because I follow them day to day and know their strengths, weaknesses, trends, tendencies, and so on. How about contest where you cap your favorite team for the NFL season? Start by declaring your team for the season and make one or two selections each week, maybe one side and one total for or against your team.
Another idea is to have a contest where you make a selection on every side and/or total for every NFL game each week. Alot of swings in that contest.

I like that idea too.

I like the survivor contest, too. Another thought is a contest picking o/u for nfl season wins for each team. Or choose which team will win each division.
I like the Parlay contest idea, although I think it should just be for the remainder of baseball regular season. Parameters being that each participant is given a fictional bankroll of $500 to spend on parlays. You can either parlay 2 to 6 bets and must assign a monetary value to each, up to a limit of $300 per parlay bet. Odds are available from any sports betting internet book and can be cut and pasted into post. Entrants keep track of their roll in their posts, lose it all, your out, winner is the capper with most money at end. This keeps the fence swingers and the conservative cappers interested, as someone can come out of nowhere and hit a 6 teamer at the end to win contest, or a plugger can just keep hitting a variety of 2 teamers daily and run away with the prize. Any question of integrity in the bankroll total can easily be checked through the posts.
It would be fun, but is a bit involved. WiseGuy1
