Sunday WNBA Research

Atlanta vs. Detroit

Atlanta showed up big against Connecticut and although the Dream barely lost, on national television as the wnba's only game and fighting off a 32 point defeat last time to the Sun, as expected they showed up big, the public got buried in yet another weekday ballgame and the game went well over which was my pod the day before yesterday. Now, Atlanta plays Detroit who beat them down in an ugly fashion at home after they first played Detroit and led by 13 at the half only to end up losing the game and the spread as they lost by 12, then in the next game, they simply got their tails handed to them as Lambeer got on their case. Now, Detroit returns home after the public once again got their tails handed to them as the whole world seemed to be on Detroit as they played Chicago and I noted with over 70% on Detroit this is likely to be a burial and I noted again that the 5.5 spread in basketball is the worst spread possible for a road chalk as that is the spread placed when the oddsmakers expects that team to lose outright on the road and guess what Chicago did, they beat them outright at home against Detroit. As per this game, I don't want to go against the Dream who have plenty of revenge and incentive here and after Detroit got embarassed in their last game at Detroit, they are coming back home so I expect a bounce-back. If anything, I don't see Detroit scoring less than 60 here and this game is likely to go over. I understand the total is high, but it is high for a reason imo.

Washington vs. Seattle

Very surprised to see this spread, after all, this is the same Washington team that went on the road to beat the Sparks outright, that's a feat that even Seattle failed to do losing by about 9 to the Sparks on the road and then came the Mystics who then defeated the Sparks in overtime on the road. After all, remember that was a revenge game for the Mystics and they came off a close loss to Phoenix at home so that was a bounce-back game on the road. Heck, this is the same Washington team that won outright at Houston and Chicago - something that even the Detroit shock couldn't do yesterday and this team did get beat by 23 to the Storm last year and many of these same players remember that ugly road loss. Washington is known to be a defensive team so although I lean over, I likely won't pull the trigger, but I do like the points as is fits into my overall betting philosophy of taking underdogs that can win outright. Plus, it's always nice going against the public.
