Since Farve has dominated sports media, how about some opinions on how it will affect us cappers, specifically the total wins by the Jets this season. My Take
Farve wiil do his thing, chucking the ball, but will the receivers be able to step up and give him viable options. Will anyone step up and help Coles and Crochery. Will Stuckey,Smith and Wright give Farve options like he had in GB? The running game should be solid, especially with the veteran Faneca added to the already good left side, Jones should see much improved numbers. Defense is good, like that monster Jenkins to add some fire in there. However, the schedule seems tough to me, NE twice, what should be a much improved Dolphins twice, Chargers away, I don't know.
I think the Jets will finish under 8 1/2 wins for the season.

744 Under 8½ reg season wins -115
Wise, good discussion. I think it's interesting, that for all the hype and hoopla, the net gain for the Jets, according to Vegas: 1 win. That's right, they moved the Jet's win total up from 7.5 to 8.5 after the Favre trade.
Hardly worth it eh?
Well, actually, I like the trade. While it will likely lead to only a marginally better record, and no playoff appearance, it provides a lot of buzz. It gives Jets fans something to get excited about. It will sell more merchandise and tickets.
In the end, though, I generally agree with you. The Jets are a .500 team, even with Favre. He has a new system to learn and he'll be under more pressure than he was last season. We all know that this guy, if pressured heavily, can be mistake-prone.
While not real high on Favre in general, I've always been real low on Pennington. I think that guy sucks big time. With that receiver corps and an improved offensive line I think they can contend for a wild card spot and go over the season total. Whether they actually make the wild card spot will depend more on their defense than Favre. It needs to improve quite a bit as they were awful last year.

The Jets won 4 games last year, 3 by 3 points or less. The offensive line allowed 53 sacks, or 3.3 a game. Favre was sacked 20 times including playoff games or 1.1 a game. The Jet line is revamped, but O-lines in th NFL need time together to be effective as a unit. We all saw what Favre does in the lean GB years under pressure, he makes big mistakes! Now at his age, they will bcome more prevalent. I think personally, he is going to struggle bigtime!
