NHL Hotshot Wednesday 10 Units

Colorado Avalanche -0.5 -155

The Colorado Avalanche play the St. Louis Blues Wednesday night at the Pepsi Center in Colorado. In past meetings the Avalanche have dominated the Blues getting a point in 8 of the last 10 overall and winning at home 17 of the last 20. The Blues have struggled when given the dog tag. They have won 12 of the last 52 games when listed as an underdog. They have also gone 10-41 in their last 51 and 12-46 in their last 58 road games. St Louis will also be without their starting and backup goalies for Wednesday night. They will be turning to their 3rd or 4th string net minders. Colorado is averaging 34 shots per game, this can be a deciding factor of the game vs rookie goaltenders who are not used to seeing high numbers of shots. Colorado has dominated when they are favored over -170 going 8-2 in their last 10. They also thrive in games when their opponents win percentage is below .400. In the last 156 games the Av's are an amazing 104-38-13. Another large deciding factor will be Colorado's Power Play. The Blues are the 26th most penalized team in the NHL and the Av's power play unit gets it done 18.4% of the time. Look for Colorado to get it done on home ice Wednesday night with a punishing win over the Blues.

NHL Hotshot Wednesday 10 Units

Pittsburgh Penguins -0.5 -145

The Flyers travel to Pittsburgh to play the Penguins Wednesday night in the battle of Pennsylvania. In recent time the Penguins have dominated the Flyers winning 6 of the last 6 games they have met. They have outscored the Flyers 20-7 in those six games. Their players have also had huge success when playing their division rivals. Sidney Crosby has tallied 6 goals and 3 assists in the last 4 meetings. 2.1 points per game and 22 points in the last 10 meetings. Calder Trophy candidate Evegini Malkn has 2 goals and 4 assists in 2 meetings against the Flyers this season. He missed the first two due to a shoulder injury. Goal tender Marc-Andre Fluery has won 5 in a row vs the Flyers and has recorded a GAA of 1.12 and 2 Shutouts in that time. The Flyers have a long injury list missing key player Peter Forsberg who is gone due to a ankle injury. The list continues with, Forwards, Geoff Sanderson, Mike Richards, Jeff Carter, defensemen Mike Rathje, Dennis Gauther and starting goal tender Robert Esche. With some quick up tempo play against a beat up Philly team the Penguins will no doubt skate to a regulation win tonight in Pittsburgh

(713) MIL Bucks and (714) NJ Nets

Take Over

Two teams off to identical records thus far as the Bucks (8-12 SU, 9-11 ATS) meet the Nets (8-12 SU, 7-12 ATS). Both clubs have been scoring some points, as the Bucks not only average over 100 points both overall and on the road this year, but in their last 7 games they scored 107 or more in four of them. The Nets have been able to score also, averaging over 101 points at home. However, the Nets are one of those rare teams that have actually allowed more points at home (102) than they have scored. This has translated into not only a 5-7 SU mark but a 4-8 ATS home record. Neither team puts up much of a fight on defense, expect this one to go OVER the total on Wednesday

Timberwolves at Spurs

Prediction: Spurs

The Spurs have been spreading the ball around since the return of Manu Ginobili, and outside of a loss at the Lakers, they have been blowing out their foes. On Monday, Brent Barry led the team in scoring with 24 points and Ginobili added 18 in his first start since the injury. Tim Duncan and Tony Parker had 17 and 21 respectively. The problem for the T-Wolves tonight is that they can't match the many weapons of the Spurs. Garnett will get his 20 points and 10 rebounds but the rest of the Wolves will have trouble against one of the league's best defenses (91 ppg on defense). San Antone has won the last five meetings between these teams in the Alamo City, holding Minny to 81 ppg. Take the Spurs.

Dallas is 21-7 ATS last 3 years after a loss by 10 points or more. Dallas is 72-44 ATS last 3 years when playing against a team with a winning record. Lakers are allowing 102 ppg on the road this year. Lakers played at Houston last night while Dallas rested. Tired legs could come into play in 2nd half. We'll play Dallas for 3 units tonight! Thanks and good luck, Rocky

Wedenesday night's "REST SITUATION" Over / Under OPINIONS in the NBA from KING CREOLE Sports!
For tonight, we're review how NBA teams have done so far in 2006 in the "1/0" rest situation. One team plays off 1 day REST.... while the other team played LAST night.

So far in 2006, HOME favs of 5 > points in a "1/0" rest situation have gone 7-18 O/U. That would mean we want to keep our eye on the CHICAGO BULLS, DALLAS MAVERICKS, and NEW JERSEY NETS as potential LOW-SCORING games. Within that "set", we find that if our HOME team is off a SU loss (Like the MAVERICKS), the results are 3-10 O/U. And if our HOME team's OPPONENT is off a SU loss (Like the BULLS), the results are 1-11 O/U.

Pittsburgh Penguins -1.5 (125)
Wed Dec 13 '06 @7:35p

Pittsburgh (13-11-5) enters into this home game against Philadelphia (8-18-4) having dominated this series of late winning 4 straight meetings this season, while outscoring the Flyers by a combined 20-7 count. The Penguins feel confident when they play this Flyers team and that is evident by the following statement. "We match up well against them," Pittsburgh's Ryan Whitney said. "It's like a four-point game whenever we play them. It's a rival game. Everyone gets pumped up. It's been going well for us and we've played really well against them." The Pens Penguins star Sidney Crosby has always been hard on the Flyers, as is evident by his six goals and three assists in four meetings this season, giving him 13 goals and 23 points in 12 career games vs the Flyers. With Philadelphia suffering from continued injury problems that will see, Peter Forsberg, Geoff Sanderson, Mike Richards and Jeff Carter, defensemen Mike Rathje and Denis Gauthier and goaltender Robert Esche out of the lineup for tonights tilt , the Flyers are in deep trouble. Final notes & Trends: Phil have lost 12 of their L/17 on the road.

UNDER nuggets/wizards
Game: Denver Nuggets at Washington Wizards Dec 13 2006 7:05PM
Prediction: under
Reason: Both these teams can certainly put up plenty of points. However, with tonight's huge total, we've got a lot of room to work with.
The 'under' is 11-6 the last 17 times that the Nuggets played a road game with an over/under line of 210 or greater. During the same stretch the Wizards have seen the 'under' go 9-3 when playing a home game with an over/under line of 210 or greater, including 5-1 the last six. The Nuggets come off a relatively low-scoring (100-87) victory at Atlanta. That brought the 'under' to 3-0 their last three road games and 9-4-1 their last 14. They also managed only 90 points the last time they were playing the second of back to back games. Consider playing on the UNDER

Larry Ness
Toronto Raptors vs. Orlando Magic (NBA) - Dec 13, 2006 7:05 PM EST
Play: Point Spread: -9/-110 Orlando Magic
Play Title: Larry Ness Free Play

The Magic have fizzled somewhat after their six-game winning streak, dropping four of their last six, including two of three on this homestand. The Magic are off a Monday home game in which the Suns soundly beat them (103-89), as Dwight Howard (17.5-12.6) was held to four points and three rebounds. However, the Raptors are NOT the Suns. Chris Bosh (20.5-12.2) has not made the trip and LY's No. 1 overall pick, Bargnani, is NO Chris Bosh. He has scored in double digits in seven of his last eight but he brings averages of just 8.2 PPG and a rather sad 2.7 RPG into this game. TJ Ford (14.2-4.0-8.0) and the now healthy Mo Peterson (13.0) are about all the Raptors have these days. Toronto lost at Miami on Monday (99-77) and has lost four straight, not topping 91 points in any game. The Magic will likely get an excellent bounce-back game from Howard plus Hill (15.1) and the team's PG duo of Nelson (12.8 ) and Arroyo (10.2) will more than match Ford and Peterson on the perimeter. The Magic have been an excellent team at home since LY's All Star break and Toronto stumbles in just 2-11 on the road TY. The number is high but it SHOULD BE! Lay it.

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 13

Portland at Memphis
Portland has played well on its six-game road trip, winning three of the first five including the last two over Toronto and Philadelphia. The latter came with Zach Randolph returning from his one-game suspension and supplying the winning bucket with 2.4 seconds left. The Blazers 5-8 road record at this point is an improvement over last year's effort when they went 6-35 for the entire season. Memphis has lost three straight and six of its last seven to post the worst record (5-16) in the league. Nuggets at Wizards

Prediction: Nuggets
The Nuggets journey into the nation's capital on a 6-1 SU and ATS run in this series. They are also 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games on this court. Coming off a 100-87 win in Atlanta Tuesday, we'll grab the points with the better team here tonight. Take Denver

5 Unit Play. #731 Take Wright State +6 over Marshall (7:00 pm) The points are very inviting this evening since both teams have loads of problems. The Raiders have a respectable 2-3 record on the road and are led by DaShaun Woods 15 points per game. This team is limiting opponents to under 68 points per game and thus should have no problem covering this near touchdown spread. Marshall has allowed all eight of their opponents to score of over 70 points per game and have lost two straight. They have been idle since last Monday, December 4th and expect the rust to show. This game belongs to the visitors in a close ugly game.

4 Unit Play. #727 Take Xavier -5 over Cincinnati (7:00 pm ESPN U) The Musketeers are the clear pick in this game, as Cincinnati has yet to establish themselves under their third coach in one plus seasons. Xavier has two losses and both came against solid teams in Alabama and Creighton. They have also owned this series of late winning three of the last four meetings. They have great balance with three players averaging double figures in scoring and thus will pose a match-up problems for the Bearcats defense. The Bearcats have yet to play anybody good and have already loss to Wofford and UAB at 5/3 Arena.
