Some Research for Tuesday that I used, hope you find it helpful.

Likely to be plays that do not come from research as the research is just my notes and a springboard for plays the following day.

NBA

Dallas vs. Atlanta

This is a revenge game for Atlanta. They actually went on the road and lost by just a bucket to the Pistons earlier this year. Flip Saunders however believes that his team is "operating on all cylinders" according to the AP and why not, this team has dominated competition of late including blowing out the Nets at home as well as the Cavs at home. The key for Detroit has been expanding the lead in the 3rd quarter and making adjustments. Detroit has added offensive punch as well from its bench as that is what Joe Dumars was working on providing this team during the offseason - youth and offense mixed in with the veteran leadership that they have. Frankly, the Hawks should have beaten the Pistons earlier this year as they had nearly a 10 point lead in the 4th quarter but the Pistons came back to win the ballgame barely. While the Hawks look to get revenge, they will also be looking to improve on their offense in which Coach Woodson has talked about as they are not scoring as much of late but they are coming off a solid win against Philadelphia due to their solid defense. Detroit has played 4 of 5 overs on the road as I have mentioned before as they let up a bit more on the road on defense, but score offensive as well. They have also put up a 100 points their last 3 ballgames as well. A lean on the Hawks here as I think this game is likely to go over as well.

NCAAB

ACC/Ivy

Boston College vs. St. Louis

St. Louis in years' before have been known to keep ballgames close but that wasn't the case at Kansas State when this team got blown out. BC is gaining confidence as the season continues to progress and they look to bounce-back in a big way following that tough OT loss. St. Louis also failed to cover a 17.5 spread against Long Beach State as they barely won at home. Granted, nearly 80% of the public is on BC which is a bit worrisome but B.C. should look good in a bounce-back. However, outside of Mercer, this team has yet to blowout anyone at home.

NC Greensboro vs. Va Tech

NC Greensboro is an odd team - this team went on the road to beat Georgia Tech outright as 16 point dogs, but then, loses on the road to SMS by 25+. Now, they go on the road to face Virginia Tech who came off a brutal road trip where they played Zaga, Penn State and Butler, losing all 3 games straight up. It is tough to know which NC Greensboro team will show up tonight.

UNC vs. Penn

I obviously took a look at this game given that I follow ACC as well as IVY league basketball. UNC is 5-1 ATS on the year and outside of the Davidson game, they continue to cover ballgames at a good rate including road covers at Ohio State and Kentucky recently. Now, this team has a huge cover on the road against a UPenn team that has lost every cover this year including as a 12 point home dog to another ACC team in Virginia. This team also comes off a 26 point road loss to Villanova as well. UNC has yet to play a terrible team on the road this season - they have played terrible teams such as Iona at home, but not a terrible team on the road. I would not be surprised at all if Penn fell short by 20 within the cover tonight. But, it's tough to bet on any team that lost to Howard at home, early in the season or not.

Yale vs. Fairfield

Another game where 3/4 of the public is riding is Fairfield. Why? Well, this team hung in against Georgetown for the first half as the game was tied 33-33 before GT pulled away in the second half. Now, this team returns home to face a Yale team that did cover against Umass and Stanford on the road, but has not looked good since. Yale in fact didn't even put up 40 at Holy Cross (who is a very good team keep in mind) played Cincy and GT very well. A lean on Fairfield as I believe they get the bounce-back, but keep in mind Yale is on the bounce-back here and the public is heavily on Fairfield for this game. However, it's hard to ignore that Fairfield played well against 2 Big East teams including Cincy and Georgetown and if I'm not mistaken. However, I hate the fact the public is all over Fairfield in this game. Fairfield does have revenge from 2 years ago as well.

Big East

Providence vs. Rhode Island - This should be a very fun game to watch as Providence comes off a big road win in overtime against BC but BC also let them off the hook late. Providence is a good team though having beaten Arkansas on neutral footing this year but goes to Rhody who is very tough at home. Tough to go against Rhody at home given their track record but Providence has proven their worth this year too. Small lean on Providence, should be a great game to watch.

Kansas State vs. Notre Dame

Keep an eye on this game as Kansas State comes off a tough loss to Oregon in their home opener and Notre Dame is 1-4 ATS and I actually have this game as a tossup on my spreadsheet so the points do seem inviting.

SEC

Keep an eye on Tennessee as they go on the road for the first time this year - meaning not a neutral setting, but their first road contest as it should be interesting to see how they perform. Chattanooga however, only beat Citadel by 13 and barely beat East Tennessee State so this is a watch and wait type of game to see how the Vols fair on the road for the firs time. Unfortunately, 75% of the public roughly is on the Vols for this game which makes the pick a bit disheartening.
