This is a poll. Let's be honest, there can be arguments made for LSU or made against LSU, but hey, they did win the national title. But, could LSU have beaten a USC team? Or, how about a Georgia team that was playing some of the best football in the closing months - albeit, they did lose their own division. If LSU gets more than 50% in this poll as yes, maybe we do have the rightful champion, I'm just curious to see what this poll will turn up as. What do you think -
Do you accept LSU as the legitimate National Champion?
You can place your reasoning here - for example:
LSU did win the SEC and they did beat the Big 10 Champion - so why not?
Or, No. LSU is a 2 loss team and frankly, no 2 loss team should be a National Champion? I can see it both ways, just curious to see how the poll finishes up as.

LSU is a very Physical team and the 2 Losses were only in triple overtime.
Yes, alot of their games were close ones but they did beat Ohio State by 14 pts.
Maybe you can say that LSU wasn't that good this year, but who can you say was really better?
LSU was the best of "THIS YEAR".
USC can't gripe because they lost to a 40point underdog.... did LSU lose to any 40 point underdogs?
Georgia has no complaint because they didn't win the division...
LSU this year by no means is that great of a football team but they aren't bad by any means either. This years teams just aren't that good, but they were better than the others, so yes...
Who else should've been in the national championship game? The only teams that didn't have two losses were Hawaii and Kansas. Everyone saw what happened to Hawaii in the bowl game when they had to play an SEC team, and Kansas didn't even win their conference. LSU was the best team this year hands down.
I am pissed that we got Buckeyed again this year by a overrated BigTen team
and the real threat to all that is good is not RogerClemens or gambling refs
but the bull**** BCS so anything that is spawned by the BCS is unworthy.
No I think USC is the best team. Also not right LSU gets to play the game at home not fair.
So, if USC is ever in the championship game when it is played in the Rose Bowl are you saying that the game should be moved to a different location? You USC supporters kill me. You lost to STANFORD...If Denis Dixon stays healthy you probably don't even win the Pac-10.

One more thing. Do you really think OSU would have won that game on a neutral field? or are you just angry that you lost money on the game last night? OSU would not have won that game if it was in their back yard.

My answer is LSU is a good team, but they lost to ken. with 5 losses and ark. late in the year and the Vols game the game away in the 4th with a int. return for TD. You could have 4 to 5 teams draw from a hat to play in the championship game. I just don't think LSU should be one of them. Thats just my thoughts I care less about USC and Ohio State.

Yes, but how many losses did Kentucky have when they beat LSU.... If I remember correctly Kentucky was ranked 8th or so....
Until there is a playoff system, I don't think you can find the actual champion. I think USC and Georgia could both give LSU a game, but with the BCS you will never know.
I guess the truth is this, LSU is the Champion of the BCS...but for fans like myself, I don't see a lot of greatness in that. I'm satisfied at the end of each March Madness, because even the little guy has the same opportunity as the Dukes and Carolinas.
LSU is the champion because that is the system we have. Are they the best team in the nation? Some days they are and some days they aren't.
Until it's settled on the field in a bracket format a true national champion doesn't exist. Even then the so-called "best team" would'nt always win it. At least it would put to rest that argument we have evry year.
I'd like to see the bowl games played, but wind them up by January 2nd at the latest. Then from there grab the best four teams and have a playoff. The best four are usually pretty easy to pick out after the bowl season. There will always be arguments for the forth spot (just like in College Basketball).
Then to start the tourney they played the two games the third Saturday in January (#1 & # 2 get home field against 3 & 4). Then they could play the championship game the week before the Super Bowl approximately two weeks after the the semi final games. To do this every team would ned to go back to playing no more than eleven games during the regular season. That way the teams that get to the national title don't play more than 14 games overall.
LSU is ONE of the best teams. There should not be a sport where the champ is determined anywhere but on the field. You could make a case for USC, Kansas, Mizzou, Oklahoma, Georgia, WV, etc. The point is, this year better then any shows why there needs to be a playoff.

Earlier you said that USC is the best team. Now you say LSU is not the best team because they lost to a Kentucky team with 5 losses. What about USC losing to a Stanford team with 8 losses and an Oregon team with 4 losses both of which ended in regulation. What is the infatuation with USC? give me a break.
The NCAA officials say that they do not want to ruin the traditional bowl structure by having a playoff system. Also they say that the kids would miss too much school time and it would affect their education.
To the 1st point. Why cant you keep the bowl system in place but have it correspond with the playoff system? the top 16 teams in the BCS rankings would get into the playoffs , much the same way the "committee" picks the top 65 for march madness. In my example the playoffs would look something like this, pardon the fact that I have lost complete control of the bowl names so if this isn't an actual bowl anymore, just laugh at my ignorance and realize my point is more important than the names...lol
Round of 16
Liberty, Sun, capital one, Humanitarian, peach, champs, Chick fil a(whatever the hell that is..haha) and the Insight
round of 8
Cotton, gator, rose, sugar
semi-finals
Fiesta, and orange
championship
title sponsor here bowl
Those bowls that are in the round of 8 or higher could rotate so that each one gets a turn to host the national championship game.
all of the other bowls could then have their bowls like normally with the teams that are left over...kinda like an NIT tounament minus the brackets. This way the bowl structure is kept in tact and the smaller bowls don't get tossed away either.
2nd point about the time missed in school.... I was in college before there was central plumbing but don't most schools have a winter break between thanksgiving and new years day? So who is missing school if these games are played in december?
I think Northern Iowa should have played Louisiana-Monroe in the National championship. Here is my logic: Northern Iowa beat Iowa State, Iowa State beat Iowa, Iowa beat Illinois, Illinois beat Ohio State and Louisiana-Monroe beat Alabama, Alabama beat Arkansas, Arkansas beat LSU. So had Louisiana-Monroe played LSU they would have won.
Northern Iowa Panthers 38
Louisiana Monroe Warhawks 34
We missed out on one of the greatest BCS championship of all time.
HAHA Good luck to all...
and will anyone ever know how to make college football's postseason fair???
This is why a playoff is needed. Too much chaos between schools and fans. I don't think what has happened was fair. LSU shouldn't have jumped that many teams to play for the title. We can all see that tv money was the issue. And for Gods sakes please ban Ohio State from National Championships. I honestly think Hawaii could keep it close with them.I am not trying to bash any OSU fans but come on, yall have to realize this team maybe, maybe could beat only 1 top 10 team in the BCSNCG.This bcs system is horrible.I read where the ratings was down for the game. People are tired of the politics from networks influencing who plays in this game.Frankly,I am sick of it myself and finding myself less interested in college football. If they put a playoff system in,IMO I think it would get better ratings than the NFL. Again not trying to bash OSU fans but the last 2 NC games was not interesting after the 2nd quarter and OSU record against the SEC speaks for itself.Do I think LSU is the best team? On paper at the end of this season, technically they are.But we will never really know if they are the best. We will have this discussion again next yer until a playoff is put into play.
