RJunior NFL 1/12/08
With playoff time upon us, so is Vegas' precision line-making time.
That said, I do have some opinions on today...and I'll post my GB/SEA thoughts first:
Seattle @ Green Bay 4:30
This promises to be an excellent game! Both of these teams are very similar with regards to strengths and play-style. Let's put the "veteran" advantage behind us, because it doesn't really matter in this game as much as ESPN wants it to (they're more interested in selling ad space than providing proper foundation for game picks).
Instead, I'm focused on the run game, clock management, QB abilities, and D/O lines.
Seattle has virtually no shot at the run today, and I expect them to rely heavily on the arm of Matt Hasselbeck. With GB's abilities to get pressure on him right from the start, combined with a secondary that has the potential to create turnovers, I think Seattle is going to have a long day ahead of them (especially with the 12th man blowing in their ear from the stands at Lambeau).
With that in mind, GB has been able to run the ball much better in the second half of the season, and I'm pretty sure Favre has achieved the proper "veteran" status to shake off the playoff jitters. I expect some big turnovers in this game in favor of GB, and some great offensive drives with a good mix of run/pass. Seattle has an excellent defense, don't get me wrong, I just think that GB will have the proper mix to make it happen today.
My pick:
GB -7 (buying .5)
As far as the O/U goes, I would rather lay off it today, although I have a lean on the under because I have this game by 10, with seattle scoring only 2 touchdowns.
GL in whatever you go with today, and I'll post in a little while on the night game!
Jacksonville @ New England
I don't have much time to post right now, so I'll keep it short and sweet:
UPDATE
NE -13.5
For those of you who keep telling me Jacksonville is going to keep their momentum going...and that they can hang with NE...you're crazy!
Tom Brady is going to pick apart that defense with ease.
Don't expect Jacksonville to score as much as you think, and don't expect their running game to shine....believe me...Belichick knows their strengths...
Expect at least 3 touchdown win by NE!
GL tonight guys!
