  • September 12, 2017 - St. Louis Cardinals vs. Cincinnati Reds

Zack Greinke and the Arizona Diamondbacks kept the Knup Play of the Day RED HOT last night with a win over the Rockies. Staying with Major League Baseball for this one.

The St. Louis Cardinals are taking on the Cincinnati at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. The Cardinals are in a pennant race, as they are 76-68 on the season, and second place in the National League Central. The Cardinals have creeped within 2 games of the defending World Series Champion Chicago Cubs in the divisional race. The Cardinals are also just 2.5 games behind Colorado for the second National League Wildcard. They are taking on a Cincinnati Reds team that is destined for last place in the division again.

The St. Louis Cardinals have won 9 out of their last 11 games. The Cardinals pitching has been sensational in that streak, as they have 10 straight games allowing 4 runs or less. Lance Lynn will take the mound for the Cardinals in this game. Lynn has been a steady force for a really nice Cardinals starting rotation. Lynn is 10-7 on the season, with a 2.94 earned run average. Lynn has struck out 139 batters this season. The 30 year old is going to be a free agent in the off-season, and will likely get some big money.

The last time Lynn faced the Reds, he went 6 innings, and allowed just 3 hits and a run. In fact, it was the last time Lance Lynn won a start. He went 5 straight starts after that with a no decision, despite seeing his ERA drop from 3.12 to 2.94.

Robert Stephenson will toss for the Cincinnati Reds in this game. The 24 year old from Martinez California is 4-4 on the season with a 5.15 earned run average. Stephenson is coming off a win in hist last outing against the Brewers. In fact, Stephenson has won each of his last four starts. The righthander pitched against the Cardinals in St. Louis back on April 8th and the Cardinals let him up.

Look for the Cardinals to get their offense going, and finally give Lance Lynn some run support.

Bet the St. Louis Cardinals -170 over the Cincinnati Reds

    • September 13, 2017:

The Texas Rangers are at home facing the Seattle Mariners and Mike Leake (9-12). When Leake left the National League he couldnít get anyone out. I donít see that changing against the power bats of the Rangers. Seattle is 32-27 on the road and Texas is 37-32 at home. Take the Rangers at home -107

      • September 14, 2017 - Houston Texans at Cincinnati Bengals

What an ugly National Football League for Thursday. Week 2 of the league has arrived. Two teams that looked terrible in Week 1 will mix it up in Cincinnati. The Houston Texans lost their Week 1 game to the Jaguars, while the Cincinnati Bengals were shutout by the Baltimore Ravens.

Itís a short turn around for both teams. Both teams have major problems, but look for Houston to look more like a team on the offensive end with DeShaun Watson behind center. He is taking the place of Tom Savage, who was bad in the first half in Week 1.

Andy Dalton struggled bit time, and look for that to continue. While Houston is missing a few defensive studs, look for them to play well against a struggling Dalton. The Houston Texans use their defense to keep this game close.

Pick: Houston Texans +5.5 over Cincinnati Bengals

        • September 15, 2017 - Illinois Fighting Illini at South Florida Bulls

Itís a pretty good College Football game Friday night. The Fighting Illini from Illinois will take on Charlie Strong and his South Florida Bulls. This is the first game for the Bulls following Hurricane Irma, which hit much of Florida, including the Tampa/St. Pete area. An interesting tidbit to this schedule is Ė on Sunday Ė at Raymond James Stadium.

The South Florida Bulls are #22 in the Associated Press Poll. They have wins over San Jose State and Stony Brook. Those two teams are not very good, in fact, neither are as good as the Illini. Quinton Flowers has been outstanding as the starting quarterback for the Bulls. He will look to control this game from start to finish.

Lovie Smith and his Orange and Blue have also won their first two games of the season. The Illini downed Ball State and Western Kentucky at home. The Illini are allowing just 14 points per game.

The Bulls are the better team here but not by three scores. Have no fear Ė South Florida is going to start 3-0, but they are not going to cover the spread in this game. Illinois is better than most think, and their defense will keep this game close.

Pick: Illinois Fighting Illini +17.5 over South Florida Bulls

Illinois Fighting Illini +17.5 over South Florida Bulls

            • September 16, 2017 - USC Trojans vs. Texas Longhorns

We saw in the Week 1 loss by the Texas Longhorns just how vulnerable they were this season. Tom Herman is a great football coach, and has probably improved his Longhorns team since then Ė but this is a game they are going to be completely overmatched. The USC Trojans are a National Title Contending type football team.

This game is at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, a place the Trojans should be able to roll in. Sam Darnold is much better than any offensive player that will step on the field for the Texas Longhorns. USC is an offensive machine, and Texas is going to have no answer for it.

This is the first game since the 2006 Rose Bowl between these two powerful college football programs. If the game was in Texas, the Longhorns would compete, but itís not Ė and the Trojans are going to roll.

Pick: USC Trojans -15 over Texas Longhorns

              • September 17, 2017 - Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Chicago Bears
It's the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Chicago Bears Sunday in the National Football League. It's the second game of the season fot the Chicago Bears, after they lost to the Atlanta Falcons in the season opener. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have yet to play a game, as their Week 1 game was postponed by Hurricane Irma.

Jameis Winston could be a Most Valuable Player candidate this season. It's time this quarterback from Florida State step it up and lead his team to the postseason. He will be without Doug Martin the first three games of the season, but Jacquizz Rodgers should be able to hand an average Bears defense.

Chicago is out of offensive weapons. Jordan Howard is the top threat as the running back, but in Week 1 - we saw a bunch of Tarik Cohen. Quarterback play is Mike Glennon, who gets to face his former team. There is going to be a reason Tampa Bay wanted to see him go, and we will see that here.

Mitchell Trubisky may get into this game. An injury or downright terrible play could certainly be done by Glennon in this game. Tampa's defense is going to be jacked up for this game. Look for Winston and Mike Evans, along with DeSean Jackson to just dominate the Bears defense.

Pick: Tampa Bay Buccaneers -6.5 over Chicago Bears

                • September 18, 2017 - Detroit Lions at New York Giants

This is much like last week on Monday Night Football Game. This is a tough game to bet on. We went back and forth with our team on this game, and who we liked. Odell Beckham Jr may be coming back for this game. That's a big addition for Eli Manning and the New York Giants. But, how healthy will he be?

The Detroit Lions won their Week 1 game at home over the Arizona Cardinals. Stafford and the Lions have always struggled when they play on the road, and that is where they will be in this game. The New York Giants looked just awful in their Week 1 loss to divisional rival Dallas.

This is a huge opportunity for Ben McAdoo and his New York Giants. If the Giants win this game, they will have a chance to tie the rest of the division with a 1-1 record. While we are at it - it's a huge chance for the Detroit Lions as well, with the Packers and the Vikings both losing in Week 2, and Chicago being terrible.

But, in saying that - Detroit is going to fall to 1-1. Golden Tate is good, but the New York defense is going to limit him. Look for a poor performance from Matthew Stafford, due in large part to the great defense that the Giants are going to put on the field. While the Giants are struggling to run the football, Brandon Marshall and Sterling Shepard have to get more involved in this game. Even if Odell Beckham Jr is a decay - the Giants are going to move the ball better than they did in Week 1.

We like the current line for this game. If you can grab it there - great. Even if it's a field goal - take the Giants. If it moves to -3.5 - buy that half point, and take the Giants.

Pick: New York Giants -2.5 over Detroit Lions

                  • September 19, 2017 - Cleveland Indians at Los Angeles Angels
Keeping tonight's short and simple. Got to take the Cleveland Indians when they are an underdog. Sure, the Angels need wins, but the Indians are too good for the, here,

Pick: Cleveland Indians +102 over Los Angeles Angels

                    • September 20, 2017 - St. Louis Cardinals at Cincinnati Reds
Luke Weaver gets a chance to face the Cincinnati Reds at the bandbox known as Great American Ball Park. It will be quite the test for the rookie, but he has passed every test all season thus far. The rookie starting pitcher is 6-1 on the season, with an ERA of 1.89. He will face Rookie Davis of the Cincinnati Reds.

These two teams played 10 innings, and scored 15 runs in the Tuesday win for the Cardinals. There are 12 games left in the season, and the Cardinals may need to win them all for a chance at the postseason. The Cardinals are 6 games over .500, while the Reds are 19 games under .500.

The Reds can hit the ball out of the ballpark, but Weaver keeps the ball in the ball park. Look for the St. Louis offense to get after Rookie Davis in this game. St. Louis wins their second straight on the road, and keeps their very slim postseason chances alive with a win.

Pick: St. Louis Cardinals -160 over Cincinnati Reds

                      • September 21, 2017 - Los Angeles Rams at San Francisco 49ers

Todd Gurley, Jared Goff and the Los Angeles Rams will take on the San Francisco 49ers in the Thursday Night Football affair for Week 3. The Los Angeles Rams are 1-1 on the season, while the San Francisco 49ers are 0-2.

A season ago, the Rams were downed in the opener by the 49ers, and then later San Francisco knocked the Rams down and out again. This is a different looking Rams team, under head coach Sean McVay. Jeff Fisher is gone, and it seems like a more winning approach is taking place.

Gurley should have a big game here. Jared Goff has a couple weapons now with Sammy Watkins, and Cooper Kupp. Look for Goff to be able to move the ball via the pass, but in the end, the big offense is going to come from Gurley. After scoring two touchdowns a game ago, he is ready to slice and dice through the San Francisco defense.

The offense for the 49ers does not have much. Running back Carlos Hyde is a talented back, but look for Los Angeles to have a plan in place to take care of him. San Francisco is going to struggle to score in this game. The Rams should win this game by double digits in this national TV game.

Pick: Los Angeles Rams -2.5 over San Francisco 49ers
