  • October 11, 2017 - Chicago Cubs vs. Washington Nationals

Note: This game was moved from Tuesday to Wednesday. The Nationals have announced Tanner Roark will pitch in this game, if the Nationals change starting pitchers – all bets are off. Good luck!

The defending World Series Champions picked up a massive win on Monday over Washington. The loss for Washington us was the end of the road in this series. The Washington Nationals are in big trouble.

This series is not going back to D.C. While Jake Arrieta was not tremendous this season, he is still good enough to eliminate the Nationals. The big deal is the Cubs going up against Tanner Roark. This is a big stage for the youngster that grew up not too far from Chicago.

Look for the Cubs offense to break out in this game. Arrieta will get the job done, with great run support. The Cubs win at home, and move on to the next series in Los Angeles.

Chicago Cubs -145 over Washington Nationals

    • October 12, 2017 - Carolina Panthers vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Note: We are buying 1/2 point in this game. Most books have this at -3.5. If you can find it somewhere at -3, PERFECT!

The Carolina Panthers are hosting the Philadelphia Eagles in the Thursday Night Football game for Week 6. Both teams come into the game leading their division. The Carolina Panthers are 4-1 and lead the NFC South, while the Philadelphia Eagles are on top of the NFC East with the same record.

The Carolina Panthers lone loss this season came at home to the New Orleans Saints. In the first three games of the season, quarterback Cam Newton struggled for Carolina. Since that loss, the quarterback is leading the Panthers to 30 points per game. The Panthers are without tight end Greg Olsen, but Ed Dickson was a monster last season, with just under 200 receiving yards.

The Philadelphia Eagles are looking to win their fourth straight game. The Eagles lone loss was at the Kansas City Chiefs. Since then – they won games over the Giants, Chargers and Cardinals. Carson Wentz is the quarterback for the Eagles, and his second season has been solid, with more than 1,300 yards and 10 touchdowns.

This is going to be a pretty good game, but this is a game that is going to the home team. The Panthers are not quite back to where they were during 2015 – but getting close. Last season, Newton was not healthy, and the defense was awesome. Look for Carolinato get on track with a big win in this game.

Carolina Panthers -3 over Philadelphia Eagles

      • October 13, 2017 - Houston Astros vs. New York Yankees

Game 1 of the American League Championship Series will feature the Houston Astros against the New York Yankees. The Houston Astros are coming into the series fresh off a 4 game series win over the Boston Red Sox. The New York Yankees came away with three straight wins to eliminate the Cleveland Indians in their ALDS series.

The Houston Astros won 101 games in the regular season and blew out the American League West. The Astros beat the Angels by 21 games in the divisional standings. Houston won 48 games at home during the regular season and won both in the postseason.

For the New York Yankees, they finished with 91 wins, which was 2 less than the Boston Red Sox in the American League East. The Yankees went 40-41 on the road, but came away with a huge road win on Wednesday to eliminate the Indians.

The pitchers in this game are Masahiro Tanaka for the New York Yankees and Dallas Keuchel for the Astros. Tanaka went 13-12 on the season with a 4.74 earned run average. Keuchel was the ace for the Astros all season, and won 14 games during the regular season.

This game has the Astros offense written all over it. Guys like George Springer, Carlos Correa, Jose Altuve and Marwin Gonzalez. Those guys unload on the Yankees pitching staff, and there is a party in Houston.

Houston Astros -165 over New York Yankees

Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings

Before we start with the numbers on Sunday’s Play of the Day... We have been asked quite often about our numbers for the Knup Sports Play of the Day. So, here they come here: 9-4 in October
          27-15 since September 1
Up over 7.5 units since July 1st
In the NFL – all time = 41-25
          NCAA Lifetime: 27-15

Okay – Sunday NFL: First – one trend that we like here – the Green Bay Packers have won 5 of their last 7 road games against the Packers in this series.

Second, the Green Bay Packers are just a better team than the Minnesota Vikings. While, the Packers lead the division, they will be facing a hungry Minnesota team that could use a win to tie the divisional standings.

Third, a trio of trends for the Packers we like: Green Bay has won and won ATS in 46 out of their last 68 games against teams within the division. The Packers have won ATS in 19 out of their last 26 games in October. Finally, Green Bay is 10-4 in their last 14 ATS.

On the other side – the Vikings are just 2-5 Against the Spread against teams with a winning record in their last 7. The Vikings are 1-6 Against the Spread in their last 7 games against the NFC North and the Vikings are 0-4 Against the Spread in October games.

The Minnesota Vikings are going to go with Case Keenum in this game. Sam Bradford continues to miss time with various injuries. Stefon Diggs is also out for the Vikings. Diggs is the top receiving option for Minnesota. He goes along with Dalvin Cook, the rookie running back who is out for the season.

How is Minnesota going to score enough to keep up with the Packers? It’s all Aaron Rodgers and all Green Bay.

Bet the Green Bay Packers -3 over the Minnesota Vikings

          • October 16, 2017 - New York Yankees at Houston Astros

It’s Game 3 of the American League Championship Series. If the New York Yankees want any shot at getting to the World Series, this is a MUST win game.

C.C. Sabathia goes for the Yankees in this game. The big lefthander went 14-5 during the regular season and struck out 120 batters.

Charlie Morton will toss for the Astros. Morton won 14 games as well, and threw 146 innings. In fact, these two starting pitchers have VERY similiar numbers.
Look for the home crowd in New York to guide the Yankees to some late inning magic and make this a series again
Betting the New York Yankees is what we are doing on Monday Night.

New York Yankees -130 over Houston Astros

            • October 17, 2017 - Chicago Cubs vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

The Chicago Cubs have got to get things going or their quest to win back to back World Series titles will come to an end. The Cubs trail the National League Championship Series 2-0.

It’ll be Kyle Hendricks for the Cubs and Yu Darvish for the Dodgers. Hendricks went 7-5 this season with the Cubs and Darvish was 4-3 for the Cubs.

Look for Chicago to play with a little more spirit and get their offense going. The Cubs have struggled all postseason to score runs, despite the 9 run outburst against the Nationals.

Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo lead their offense to a win in this game, and the series moves to 2-1.

Chicago Cubs -120 over Los Angeles Dodgers

              • October 18, 2017 - Minnesota Timberwolves at San Antonio Spurs

The Minnesota Timberwolvews want to be an elite team in the National Basketball Association this season. The Timberwolves already had stars in Karl Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins, and now they have added Jimmy Butler.

It’s hard to overlook Gregg Popovich, but this has the feeling of a slow start for the San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs are without their top athlete Kawhi Leonard. Not only is he their best scorer, but also best defender.

Look for Minnesota to show from the beginning that they are ready to compete. Yes, this game is on the road, but Minnesota comes away with the win in this game, due in large part to the loss of Leonard and the addition of Butler in Minnesota.

Pick: Minnesota Timberwolves +2 over San Antonio Spurs

                • October 19, 2017 - Kansas City Chiefs at Oakland Raiders

The Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland Raiders will meet up on the Thursday Night Football game for Week 7 of the National Football League. Both teams come into this game fresh off a loss. The Kansas City Chiefs lost at home to the Pittsburgh Steelers. That was their first loss of the season. The Chiefs are leading the AFC West over Denver, who is 3-2. For the Oakland Raiders, after winning their first two games of the season, Oakland has now dropped 4 straight games.

The Kansas City Chiefs, despite scoring just 13 in the loss to the Steelers are 2nd in the league with just shy of 30 points per game. Kareem Hunt has 630 rushing yards and Tyreek Hill had 390 receiving yards. The Chiefs are passing for more than 250 yards per game, while rushing for 134.8 per game.

The Oakland Raiders have seen their quarterback Derek Carr in and out of the lineup. Last season, the Raiders made the postseason, but something has not been right with the Raiders this season. Carr’s top target has been Michael Crabtree with 304 yards and 5 touchdowns on the season.

The Chiefs are the better team. Especially right now. Something is not right with the Oakland Raiders. Look for Kansas City to take advantage of that and come away with the win here.

Pick: Kansas City Chiefs -3 over Oakland Raiders

                  • October 20, 2017- Houston Astros vs. New York Yankees

Plain and Simply put: Justin Verlander at home.

The Houston Astros force a Game 7 as their bats wake up against Luis Severino.

Pick: Houston Astros -135 over New York Yankees

                    • October 21, 2017
Michigan Wolverines at Penn State Nittany Lions

A season ago, the Michigan Wolverines blasted the Penn State Nittany Lions 49-10 and likely kept the Nittany Lions out of a chance to play for a national title. Now, the roles are reversed as Penn State is the unbeaten team, and they are the home team as well.

Penn State has Saquan Barkley, who is an early Heisman favorite. The running back has been fantastic, and leading the team in both passing yards and rushing yards. If he is not efective, the Nittany Lions have been getting great play from their quarterback Trace McSorley.

Michigan and Penn State are both great defensive teams, but Michigan is going to have to defend to have a chance here. The Wolverines are 9th in college football in points alive. The Wolverines are also without their top quarterback Wilton Speight.

All the odds seemed to be stacked against the Maize and Blue – but that’s our pick. Its hard to imagine after Michigan State came to town and whacked the Wolverines that Coach Harbaugh would let that happen here. Look for Michigan to do the best they can to bottle up Barkley and win this game.

Pick: Michigan Wolverines +10 over Penn State Nittany Lions

                      • October 22, 2017 - Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis Colts

Before we start. A little update – the Knup Sports Play of the Day is 11-9-1 during the month of October. So, if it seems like we are struggling a bit, maybe slightly, but more wins than losses.

The National Football League Week 7. The Jacksonville Jaguars are 3-3 on the season and 2nd in the AFC South. The Jaguars trail the Titans in the division. Jacksonville has won every other game, and this is a game they are scheduled to win according to that standard.

On the other side – the Indianapolis Colts are starting to find their downfall. The Colts just cannot play and finish a 60 minute game. The Colts have had several blow-ups in the fourth quarter of losses.

While Leonard Fournette is questionable for this game – Chris Ivory is a good back up running back, and should have no problem against a pretty poor Colts run defense. If Blake Bortles can take care of the football, he can lead this team to a victory.

Pick: Jacksonville Jaguars -3 over Indianapolis Colts

                        • October 23, 2017- Philadelphia Eagles vs. Washington Redskins

In Week 1 – the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Washington Redskins. Since then – the Eagles have won 4 out of 5, and sit with the best record in all of the National Football League. The Eagles have just one loss, and that’s the fewest, in front of Kansas City, Los Angeles Rams, Minnesota and Pittsburgh – who are 5-2.

The Washington Redskins come into the game with a 3-2 record. If the Redskins lose this game, they would fall two more games back due to the tiebreaker if that were the case after Week 17. So, this is a MONSTER game for the Washington Redskins.

Carson Wentz has emerged as one of the top quarterbacks in all of the league. The second year guy from South Dakota State has thrown for more than 1,500 yards and has 13 touchdowns. Last season, he only had 16 touchdowns in his rookie season.

Wentz has several targets, including tight end Zach Ertz and Alshon Jeffrey. Those two have been solid in the passing game, while LeGarrette Blount is a professional running back that can move the chains.

Washington, at 3-2, with losses to the Eagles and Chiefs have not been bad at all. In fact, the Redskins schedule has been fairly tough, adding Oakland in that mix as well. But, on the road, look for the Eagles defense to do work on Kirk Cousins and the Washington passing game. The Eagles stay hot and win this game at home.

Pick: Philadelphia Eagles -4 over Washington Redskins

                          • October 24, 2017 - Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Houston Astros

Man, Clayton Kershaw is really good. You can throw whatever numbers you want out there and things point to the Los Angeles Dodgers in this World Series Game 1. And before you start talking about Dallas Keuchel – you are correct – he is really good as well.

We have a great matchup, and it’s hard to picture any other result than Kershaw and the Dodgers winning this game. The Dodgers are red hot, and will take Game 1 of the best of 7 series.

Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers -165 over Houston Astros

                            • October 25, 2017 - Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Houston Astros

After winning the Play of the Day last night in Major League Baseball, that’s 3 in a row overall, and 3 out of the last 4 in Major League Baseball. We are going to go back to the well tonight as well. After Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers dominated Game 1, their chances for Game 2 are good as well.

Chris Taylor blasted a homerun to start the game, and Justin Turner smacked one out to re-gain the leader later in the game. After that – it was all Clayton Kershaw and that Dodgers bullpen.

That bullpen is going to be the key in this game. It’s a great Houston offense, but the Dodgers bullpen does not give up anything. Even if starting pitcher Rich Hill struggles, the bullpen is going to take care of the job. This series is going to go much like the NLCS against the Cubs, where they win both at home to take a big lead in the series.

It’s hard to bet against Justin Verlander. In fact, if you have followed our picks all year – Justin Verlander has been a popular pick for us. But this time – we are going against Verlander in a pitchers dual. Do not be surprised if the score is 3-2, 2-1, etc. But, the Dodgers are our pick.

Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers -115 over Houston Astros

                              • October 26, 2017 - Baltimore Ravens vs. Miami Dolphins

Two uninspiring football teams get together in Baltimore. The Ravens are in need of a win in this game, while the Dolphins are seeking their fourth straight win. This will certainly be an interesting game, and probably lack too much excitement. In the end though, the home team should be able to win this game.

Joe Flacco has been bad, and the Miami defense has been pretty solid, but look for the Ravens to get back on track. Matt Moore is the quarterback for Jay Cutler, and while he was pretty solid in the win over the Jets, he is going to struggle as the starter in this game. Look for the Ravens defense to be the best unit on the field in this game.

Betting on Thursday Night Football – we are taking the Baltimore Ravens -3 over the Miami Dolphins.

Pick: Baltimore Ravens -3 over Miami Dolphins
