July 5 Play of the Day - Kansas City Royals at Seattle Mariners

Jason Vargas and the Kansas City Royals will take on the Seattle Mariners. Ariel Miranda will throw for Seattle in this game. Vargas has been one of the best pitchers in the American League this season.

Vargas is 12-3 on the season with a 2.22 earned run average. Miranda has not been bad with a 7-4 record, and a 3.82 earned run average. The Kansas City offense has started to improve and this seems like a game on the road, where they will do that.

The Kansas City Royals win this game, behind the 13th win from American League Cy Young contender Jason Vargas.

Pick: Kansas City Royals +114 over the Seattle Mariners

July 6 Play of the Day Boston Red Sox at Tampa Bay Rays

Stop me if you have heard this before. Chris Sale is on the mound, and he is going to dominate this game. Chris Sale is the best pitcher in the American League, and he is going to win yet another game.

Chris Sale is 11-3 on the season, and his ERA is just over 2.60 on the season. Sale has struck out 166 batters in just over 120 innings pitched this season. He will take on a Tampa Bay team that is coming off back to back games against the Chicago Cubs.

For the Tampa Bay Rays, itís Jake Faria. In over 32 innings thrown this season, Faria has struck out 35 batters, and walked just 5. His WHIP is an impressive 0.90 on the season, and he holds a 2.23 earned run average.

Faria is having a good season, but itís time for the Boston bats to get to him. The Red Sox have been the hottest team in the American League over the past week. Look for Boston to end Fariaís undefeated career with several early runs in this game.

Sale cruises to yet another victory, and settles in to the All Star Break with 12 wins, and should be in line to make the start for the American League on Tuesday in Miami.

Bet the Boston Red Sox -153 over Tampa Bay Rays

July 8 Play of the Day Boston Red Sox at Tampa Bay Rays

Alex Cobb takes the hill for the Tampa Bay Rays with a 6-6 record and will face Rick Porcello from the Red Sox who sports a 4-10 record. Porcello has given up over five runs per game and isnít looking like he did just a few short years ago. The Red Sox offense is 3rd best in the league at .270. The Rays are 13th best in the league at .257 for the season. Both bullpens are legitimate but the home team gets the nod here as Cobb has been better than Porcello. Look for Tampa Bay to score early. We are going with Tampa Bay -110.

        Take Rays -110 at home

July 9 Play of the Day - Houston Astros at Toronto Blue Jays

The Astros have the best team average at .287 and lead in on base percentage and slugging percentage at .429. They hard hard to stop with Carlos Correa at .319 and Jose Altuve coming across at .338 for the season. The Blue Jays are the 22nd best offense with a .228 batting average and are also 22nd in slugging percentage and on base percentage. Toronto send J.A. Happ to the hill at home with a 3-5 record while Brad Peacock with a 6-1 record and a stellar 2.91 ERA gets the ball for Houston. Take Houston with offense and pitching +108

          Pick: Houston Astros +108

July 14 - Chicago Cubs @ Baltimore Orioles

Mike Montgomery gets the ball for the first game back from All-Star break. This seems odd as he is the likely one to go to the pen when Quintana gets in the rotation. Baltimore at home really mashes the ball with tons of home runs. Look for a pretty large score from the winning team in this game. Both teams need a big second half to get back to the postseason. Take Oís at home.

              Pick: Baltimore Orioles -105

July 15 PLAY OF THE DAY - Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees

What a bad loss for the New York Yankees on Friday night. The Yankees should have won, but the bullpen could not get the job done. Now, the Yankees are just 3 games over .500. The Boston Red Sox started the season half with a monster win, and are now 4.5 games ahead of the Yankees.

Now, Boston has Chris Sale on the mound. Sale is the best pitcher in the American League. He started the All Star game for the AL. He is seeking his 13th win of the season. He will face Luis Severino in this game. Look for the Boston offense to score just enough to allow Sale to come away with the win here. Bet the Boston Red Sox over the New York Yankees.

                Pick: Red Sox -160

July 16 Play of the Day: Texas Rangers at Kansas City Royals:

The Texas Rangers will send Yu Darvish to the hill to take on Ian Kennedy of the Kansas City Royals. Darvish has had a tough season, with a 6-8 record, but has a pretty nice earned run average of 3.49. Darvish has thrown over 118 innings in 2017 and struck out 125 batters.

Ian Kennedy is 3-6 on the season. The Royals starting pitcher has struck out 76 batters in 87 innings on the hill. The Royals come into the game on a five game losing streak, as they failed to score in their loss on Saturday.

Texas has moved to 45-45 on the season, and second place in the American League West. The Rangers are looking to make a push for the American League Wildcard, as they are 2 games behind the Yankees for the final spot.

Look for Darvish and the Rangers to take control of this game, and pick up the win.

Pick: Texas Rangers -117 over Kansas City Royals

July 18 Play of the Day: Los Angeles Dodgers at Chicago White Sox

Ok Ė itís been a big time struggle with the Play of the Day since the All Star Break. Therefore, we are going with a winner here. Clayton Kershaw is on the mound against the Chicago White Sox. Kershaw is really, really good Ė and the Chicago White Sox are not. Miguel Gonzalez is throwing for the Chicago White Sox, but who cares?

                    The Dodgers win easily.

                    Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers -275

July 19 Play of the Day St. Louis Cardinals vs. New York Mets

Itís dangerous to pick against Jacob DeGrom right now. But, this bet is more about the team than it is the pitcher. Mike Leake goes for the Cardinals, and his 3.14 earned run average still has him with a solid season. DeGrom has won his last 6 decision, and on the season he is 10-3.

But, the Mets are having a tough time scoring runs. The Cardinals kept the Mets off the scoreboard on Tuesday night, and St. Louis has won the first two games in this series. St. Louis needs this win to get to .500 on the season, and then send Lance Lynn to the mound in the finale on Thursday.

Look for St. Louis to scratch a couple runs across in this game off DeGrom. Leake gets the job done, and keeps the Cardinals on track, and the Mets in a rut. Take the Cardinals on the road over the Mets.

Pick: St. Louis Cardinals +145 over New York Mets

July 22 - Pittsburgh Pirates vs Colorado Rockies The Pirates send Chad Kuhl with a 3-6 record and a 4.85 ERA to the mound while the Rockies counter with German Marquez at 7-4 and a 4.34 ERA. Colorado is good at home at 29-19 while the Pirates struggle on the road. Pittsburgh has been red hot as of late, making a run in the National League Central. Coming into Saturday, there are 4 teams within 3.5 games, with the first place Brewers struggling. Look for a ton of runs in this game, but Colorado gets back on track. I donít like the over/under at 12; but will be taking the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.

                        Pick: Colorado Rockies -135

July 23 Play of the Day - Boston Red Sox vs. Los Angeles Angels
Rick Porcello has been pretty poor all season long. Porcello, the former Cy Young winner is 4-12 on the season with an ERA of over 4.50. He will take on Parker Bridwell and the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday. Itís the final game of the weekend series.

The Boston Red Sox are looking to expand their lead in the American League East. The Red Sox moved to 12 games over .500 with their win on Friday. The Red Sox are getting big seasons from Mookie Betts and Xander Boegarts.

On the other side, Mike Trout is back for the Los ANgeles Angels. Even with Trout back in the lineup, the Angels are still very inconsistent on the offensive side. If Porcello is going to get back on track, the Angels are a team he can do it against.

The Red Sox win this game. Porcello picks up his 5th win of the season, and Boston gets out of town with a big win on Sunday.

Boston Red Sox -120 over Los Angeles Angels

July 24 Play of the Day Atlanta Braves at Arizona Diamondbacks

Itís R.A. Dickey against Zack Greinke in the first game of a series on Monday. The Atlanta Braves have dropped two straight games, and have dipped to 47-50 on the season. Thatís second place in the National League East, but 12 games behind the Washington Nationals.

For the Arizona Diamondbacks, they have been pretty solid all season long. The Diamondbacks are in third place in the National League West, but are the second wildcard coming into this game. The Diamondbacks are 56-42 on the season.

R.A. Dickey is the oldest active pitcher in the National League, and is 6-6 this season, with a 4.14 earned run average. Dickey has thrown over 117 innings this season, and struck out 78 batters. Dickey is known for his knuckleball.

Zack Greinke has been the best pitcher for the Diamondbacks this season. Greinke has an 11-4 record and a 2.97 earned run average. In over 121 innings pitched, Greinke has struck out 134 batters, while walking just 26.

Look for the high powered offense of the Arizona Diamondbacks to rock Dickey in this game, while Zack Greinke takes care of the rest. Take the Diamondbacks at home to beat the Braves in this game.

Pick: Arizona Diamondbacks -175 over Atlanta Braves

July 25 Play of the Day - Baltimore Orioles @ Tampa Bay Rays

While this is the Play of the Day for Tuesday July 25th, 2017 Ė 2 of the 3 Knup Sports panel members will be at this game. We love the game, and we love the bet for the Rays:

The Orioles travel to Tropicana Field to take on the Rays. The Tampa Bay Rays came into the series on Monday in third place in the American League East, just 3.5 games behind the Boston Red Sox. The Baltimore Orioles are 4 games under .500 on the season, and 7 games behind the Red Sox.

For the Orioles Ė Wade Miley enters with a 4-8 record along with a 5.58 ERA. Tampa Bay counters with Jacob Faria who sports a 4-1 record and a stellar 2.54 ERA in 50 innings of work. The Orioles can mash the ball but donít hit as many long balls when away from Camden Yards. Look for the Rays offense to get to Miley early and take care of this game. Take Rays.

                              Pick: Tampa Bay Rays -154
