July 26 Play of the Day:

    Texas Rangers vs. Miami Marlins

Looking for 3 in a row!

Folks throughout Major League Baseball are wondering if Yu Darvish is going to stick with the Texas Rangers. With the trade deadline approaching, his name has been at the top of several lists.

Darvish makes the start in this game on Wednesday. He has not had a ton of luck picking up wins this season, but has a pretty solid earned run average. Darvish is 6-8 on the season and a 3.44 earned run average.

For the Miami Marlins, they are going with Jose Urena. Urena has been pretty solid for the Marlins, with an 8-4 record and a 3.78 earned run average. Urena is 4.2 innings shy of getting to 100 on the season.

The Rangers and Marlins both look like teams that will be heading home at the end of the regular season, but Texas is not too far off in the American League Wildcard. If Darvish can keep the big three of the Miami offense down, he will be in great shape.

Look for Darvish to throw well, and the Texas Rangers pick up a win. Bet the Rangers at home over the Marlins.

Pick: Texas Rangers -170 over Miami Marlins

Knup Sports Play of the Day - July 28, 2017:

        Dallas Keuchel
is back on the mound for the Houston Astros. With a full season, Keuchel would be an American League Cy Young candidate, but he has missed some time with a couple injuries. He comes into this game with a 9-0 record, and an ERA of 1.67 on the season.

Jordan Zimmerman is going to go for the Detroit Tigers. He is 6-8 on the season with a 5.81 earned run average. Zimmerman has thrown 105.1 innings, and struck out 75, while walking 34 in 2017.

The Houston Astros have the best record in the American League, and a whopping 17 game lead over the Seattle Mariners in their division. The Astros are 11.5 games up on the top spot in the American League

Detroit is all but out of the divisional race in the American League Central. The Tigers are 10 games under .500, and 9.5 games out of first place. The Tigers are likely trade suitors for several teams, and Zimmerman could be an option.

Look for the Houston Astros to blast Zimmerman in this game. The Astros have one of the best offenses in all of baseball, despite missing Carlos Correa. The Astros score early, and score often and win this game.

Bet on the Houston Astros on the road.

Pick: Houston Astros -158 over Detroit Tigers

July 29 - New York Mets @ Seattle Mariners

Before we give the pick. July has been a great month for the PLAY OF THE DAY. Thatís two straight wins, 4 out of the last 5, and in the month of July, we have won 63% of our picks. Now for Saturdayís game:

Jacob deGrom brings his 12-3 record to Safeco Field to face Yovani Gallardo at 4-7 and a robust 5.58 ERA. The Mets team hits .251 and Seattle is .258 as a team. I am going with the starting pitching to carry the Mets in this game as both squads have been about the same coming out of the bullpen. Take the New York Mets.

          Pick: New York Mets -140

July 30 Play of the Day - St. Louis Cardinals vs. Arizona Diamondbacks

The St. Louis Cardinals are sending Lance Lynn to the mound in this game. For several starts now, their has been talk about Lance Lynn being traded before the deadline. Lynn was really good in his last start, and looks to match it again. The Cardinals need to pick up this win to even the four game series against the Diamondbacks.

Taijuan Walker will throw for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Walker is 6-4 on the season with a 3.47 earned run average. Walker has been pretty solid for an Arizona team that leads the National League wild card chase.

Look for Lance Lynn to bring yet another quality start, and a great start to the mound. The Diamondbacks offense is good, but Lance Lynn is going to be better. In the end, the Cardinals win this game Sunday afternoon.

Bet St. Louis Cardinals at home

St. Louis Cardinals -118 over Arizona Diamondbacks

July 31 Play of the Day Washington Nationals at Miami Marlins

Gio Gonzalez and the Washington Nationals go on the road to face Jose Urena and the Miami Marlins on Monday. The Nationals continue to run away with the National League East, at 20+ games over .500.

The Miami Marlins are trying to get to .500 on the season,, but their four game winning streak was snapped on Sunday by the Reds. The Marlins are now 5 games under .500 and 12.5 games out of first place.

Gio Gonzalez, the lefthander is seeking his 9th win of the season. Gonzalez has a great earned run average of 2.81 on the season, and 127 strikeouts in more than 134 innings. Gonzalez has been great out of the rotation, and picking up as the #2 behind Max Scherzer.

For the Marlins, Jose Urena actually has been solid as well. He is seeking his 10th win of the season. In 100.1 innings, Urena has struck out 70 batters, and walked 39. He has a 3.09 earned run average.

Look for Washington to get after Urena using their solid offense, while Gonzalez takes care of the Marlins. In the first game of the series, the Washington Nationals move even closer to divisional title with a win.

Pick: Washington Nationals -135 over Miami Marlins

August 1 Play of the Day - Boston Red Sox vs. Cleveland Indians

Two teams that look like they could be heading to the postseason will get together at Fenway Park in Boston. The Boston Red Sox will take on the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday night. The Red Sox won the first game of the series.

The Red Sox are 58-49 on the season, which is second place, just Ĺ game behind the New York Yankees in the division. The Cleveland Indians are 57-47 on the season, just 2 games ahead of the Kansas City Royals.

Chris Sale goes for the Boston Red Sox in this game. This is a guy that looks like he could be the American League Cy Young winner. The lefthander is 13-4 on the season with a 2.37 earned run average. Sale is going to strikeout 300 batters, with 89 more this season.

Carlos Carrasco will throw for the Cleveland Indians in this game. He has been outstanding as well. 10-4 on the season with a 3.58. Carrasco is also having a monster strikeout season as well.

In a very well pitched game, look for the home team to come away with the second win in this series. The Boston Red Sox are going to win the game at home.

Pick: Boston Red Sox -138 over Cleveland Indians

August 2 Play of the Day - Chicago Cubs vs. Arizona Diamondbacks

Jake Arrieta is going for the Chicago Cubs, and despite having a little bit of a down season, he is 10-7. Zack Godley is going for the Diamondbacks, and is coming of a terrific outing against the Cardinals. Both these teams would be heading to the postseason if it started today. The Cubs are leading the National League Central, while the Diamondbacks and Rockies are in play for the National League Wildcard.

The Cubs are on fire. There has been no better team in the National League since the All Star Break. The offense blasted Arizona on Tuesday night, and look for them to get back on the scoreboard against Godley. The Cubs are the play in this game.

Pick: Chicago Cubs -165 over Arizona Diamondbacks

August 3 Play of the Day - Tampa Bay Rays vs. Houston Astros

1-1 on the month. Letís make this one short and sweet.

Colin McHugh and the Houston Astros over Blake Snell and the Tampa Bay Rays. There is a reason that Blake Snell has yet to win a game this season. Houston blasts him.

Houston Astros -160 over Tampa Bay Rays

                    • August 4 Play of the Day - New York Mets vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Itís tough going against one of the best teams in Major League Baseball over the last couple regular seasons. But for the Friday Play of the Day, thatís exactly what we are going to do.

Yu Darvish goes for the Los Angeles Dodgers, and he will make his National League debut. Darvish has not had a great season so far in 2017. Darvish was rocked in his last start, and really, was smashed much of the season.

The big factor in betting here is Ė Jacob DeGrom is a home underdog in this game. DeGrom is 12-4 on the season with a 3.29 earned run average. While the Mets offense is not very good, DeGrom is going to lock the Dodgers offense up.

This is an underdog bet, and itís the New York Mets.

Take the Mets +120 over the Dodgers

                      • August 6 Play of the Day - Arizona Diamondbacks at San Francisco Giants

Patrick Corbin and the Arizona Diamondbacks are on the road at the San Francisco Giants in this game. Corbin is 8-10 on the season, but going against a pretty weak San Francisco offense. The Diamondbacks are third in the National League West, but they are in a pretty good spot for the wildcard.

The San Francisco Giants are in last place in the division, but have moved ahead of Philadelphia for the worst record in the National League. The Giants are 26 games under .500. Jeff Samardzija is on the mound for the Giants, and he has been a disaster. He has 11 losses on the season and an ERA of nearly 5 on the season.

Look for the Arizona offense to blast away on Samardzija. The Diamondbacks offense with Goldschmidt, J.D. Martinez and the rest of the crew are in a great spot, especially as an underdog.

Arizona Diamondbacks +105 over the San Francisco Giants.

                        • August 8 Play of the Day: New York Yankees at Toronto Blue Jays

CC Sabathia comes in at 9-4 and has defeated the Blue Jays twice this season. Blue Jays pitcher JA Happ is 4-8 and has won one of his last four games and look for the slugger Aaron Judge and the Yankees offense to get it done.

                          Pick: New York Yankees +110

August 9 - Houston Texans at Carolina Panthers
Are you ready for some football? Itís time for the Play of the Day to start converting to the National Football League. Just use caution when betting on preseason National Football League. Letís roll this fall and winter!

The Houston Texans are on the road at the Carolina Panthers for the pre-season opener for both teams. While it appears Cam Newton will not play for Carolina, they still should be in pretty good shape in this game.

For Houston, they will send Tom Savage and rookie DeShaun Watson behind center.

While it will be fun to see Watson get his first professional action, look for the Panthers defense to have a pretty good plan against the rookie. The Panthers are a team that we personally like quite a bit this season.

Take the Carolina Panthers over the Houston Texans on Wednesday in Week 1 of the National Football League preseason.

                            Pick: Carolina Panthers -2

August 10 Play of the Day:
Green Bay Packers vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Itís the Green Bay Packers and the Philadelphia Eagles in the first game of the preseason for both teams. The Packers have huge expectations coming into this season. Green Bay has owned the NFC North for several years, and look to be huge favorites again this season.

Carson Wentz and the Philadelphia Eagles are the first team to face the Packers. Wentz is expected to play a little bit, while Rodgers will likely sit out the game for Green Bay. Despite that, we like the Packers to get the job done at home.

                              Pick: Green Bay Packers -1

Tennessee Titans at New York Jets

The Tennessee Titans start their preseason schedule on the road at the New York Jets. We have won three straight Play of the Day picks in the National Football League, and we love our fourth. The New York Jets are awful, and will be one of the worst teams in all of the league this season. The Titans are pretty competitive, and will be strong in this game, and win on the road showing Jets fans that 2017 will indeed be a long season.

                                Pick: Tennessee Titans -2.5
