  • August 13 Play of the Day:
    Houston Astros at Texas Rangers

Our Play of the Day is going to move off the National Football League for a couple days. It was quite the weekend of NFL picks for the Knup Sports gang. Back to Major League Baseball here.

Itís Dallas Keuchel against Andrew Casher in a battle between the Houston Astros and the Texas Rangers on Sunday. Obviously, the Houston Astros are one of the top teams in the American League, but the struggles have been going on for them. The Texas Rangers look like they will not make a repeat trip to the postseason. This pitching match-up appears to be one sided, as Keuchel is due for a bounce back start after looking awful against the White Sox. The Houston Astros are the pick to make in this game as they finish the series win a win.

Pick: Houston Astros -142 over Texas Rangers

    • August 14 - Houston Astros at Arizona Diamondbacks

Our Play of the Day will feature Zack Greinke and his ability to pitch the baseball at home against the Houston Astros. Greinke is seeking his 14th win of the season. He is going up against a tough Astros lineup, but a team that has seen their offense struggle as of late. Collin McHugh will throw for the Houston Astros. He has been hurt for much of the season. Arizona is looking to bounce back after a loss on Sunday. Greinke seems to be a great choice in this game.

Pick: Arizona Diamondbacks -148 over Houston Astros

      • August 15 - Washington Nationals vs. Los Angeles Angels

Itís Gio Gonzalez for the Washington Nationals at home. Gonzalez has been pretty good all season for Washington, and is seeking his 11th win of the season. This series would have been Bryce Harper against Mike Trout, but Harper is out with the injury. Despite losing Harper in the lineup, Washington still has plenty of firepower to get to Tyler Skaggs and the Angels pitching staff. When push comes to shove, bet on the Washington Nationals. There is a reason they have 70 wins.

Washington Nationals -120 over Los Angeles Angels

        • August 16 - Texas Rangers vs. Detroit Tigers

We do have quite the favorite in this game, but Cole Hamels and the Texas Rangers are money on Wednesday night. The Rangers are on the outside looking in, but with the American League Wildcard in the mix, the Rangers have a chance if they get hot. Texas will need the ace of their staff to get hot and stay hot.

Cole Hamels has been great this season with a 7-1 record. Hamels will face Anibal Sanchez of the Detroit Tigers. The offense of the Rangers has been pretty hit or miss, but in this series, they have been hitting the baseball all over. The Texas Rangers are likely to finish off a three game sweep in this game before they host the White Sox for four games

Pick: Texas Rangers -180 over Detroit Tigers

          • August 17 - Miami Dolphins vs. Baltimore Ravens

Will Jay Cutler get a chance to play for Adam Gase and the Miami Dolphins? Thatís the biggest question mark here. But, in the meantime Matt Moore just keeps doing his thing, including a great start in this game. The Ravens defense is nowhere near the defense of old. Without Joe Flacco for Baltimore, Ryan Mallett is not the answer. Look for the home crowd in Miami, and the defense of the Dolphins to take care of this game.

In the first game of Week 2 in preseason play, the Miami Dolphins pick up the win over the Baltimore Ravens.

Pick: Miami Dolphins -2.5 over Baltimore Ravens

            • August 18 - Seattle Seahawks vs. Minnesota Vikings

Going to make this a little short and sweet. We screwed up the preseason game on Thursday. Time to bounce back with a win on Friday night.

The Seattle Seahawks blow out the Minnesota Vikings. Both teams won their preseason openers. The Seahawks were impressive with a 48 point outburst in the blowout over the Chargers. Seattle is the pick to win the NFC by many next season. Russell Wilson is set to have a monstrous season in 2017.

Minnesota went on the road and beat the Buffalo Bills. The Vikings have a bunch of guys that are in competition battles. Let's see what head coach Mike Zimmer does with this squad.

Pick: Seattle Seahawks -3 over Minnesota Vikings

              • August 19: Arizona Cardinals vs. Chicago Bears

Stop with the loving for the Chicago Bears. Sure, they beat the Denver Broncos in the opening week of the preseason schedule. Also, stop with the talk about how great Mitchell Trubisky is going to be. This is over-reaction city.

The Bears are going to revert back to the Bears of old in this game. Look for Arizona to run all over the Chicago Bears from the very beginning of the game, all the way until the end of the game. The Arizona Cardinals are going to smash the Chicago Bears.

Pick: Arizona Cardinals -3 over Chicago Bears

                • August 20 - Cleveland Indians at Kansas City Royals
Stop me if you have heard this before Ė but Jason Hammel is terrible. He is going in this game for the Kansas City Royals, and will take on a very tough Cleveland Indians lineup. The Indians have Danny Salazar going. Salazar has not been that great, with a 5-5 record and a 3.92 earned run average.

Kansas City needs wins in a bad way, as they are 6.5 games back heading into their Saturday night affair against the Indians. In fact, the Royals fell to third place behind Minnesota and Cleveland. The Indians enjoy their 6 game cushion, which is the highest of the season.

Guys like Edwin Encarnacion, Francisco Lindor and Jason Kipnis are going to have an absolute field day on Jason Hammel. This game is an easy one to bet.

Pick: Cleveland Indians -145 over Kansas City Royals

                  • August 21- Texas Rangers at Los Angeles Angels

Our August Play of the Day record needs to improve. This seems like a great game to get back on track. We are going back with Major League Baseball. We like an underdog in a battle of two American League West teams.

Cole Hamels and the 61-62 Texas Rangers are on the road at the 64-60 Los Angeles Angels. The Angels have been red hot, and taking one of the American League wildcard spots. It's amazing that the Angels are battling for a wildcard spot with their starting pitching and their injuries.

Hamels goes against Tyler Skaggs. The lefthanded Cole Hamels is 8-1 on the season with an ERA of 3.48 on the season. He has great stuff, and the dude has won 144 career games. Hamels has not lost since July 20th at Baltimore, and during that time has won four starts in five games.

Tyler Skaggs comes into the game with a 1-3 record and a 3.63 earned run average. Look for the high powered Texas offense to get after Texas in this game.

Pick: Texas Rangers +135 over Los Angeles Angels

                    • August 22 - Miami Marlins at Philadelphia Phillies (Game 2)

A very underrated starting pitcher in Major League Baseball is Jose Urena. He will throw in this game against one of the worst offenses in all of Major League Baseball.

Urena for the Miami Marlins has 11 wins this season. He has been the most consistent starting pitcher in Miami this season. He is seeking his 12th win of the season.

Nick Pivetta will throw for the Phillies. He is 4-8 on the season with his earned run average over 6.00. Pivetta is throwing as part of the second game of a doubleheader.

Look for a tired bullpen of the Phillies to have to pitch too much in this game. Urena with a sharp outing and the Marlins bats come to life.

Pick: Miami Marlins -131 over Philadelphia Phillies

                      • August 23 - Arizona Diamondbacks at New York Mets

The New York Mets are rolling over and playing dead for the Diamondbacks in this series. Fortunately for Arizona, they will play again on Thursday. The Diamondbacks are back to playing better baseball. They have Zack Godley on the mound in this game. While his overall record is not great, he has been pretty good. He is 5-6 with a 3.13 earned run average on the season. Godley has struck out 119 batters in 112 innings.

Chris Flexen goes for the New York Mets. He has been just okay since coming up to Major League Baseball. He has 2 wins, but is allowing nearly 7 runs per game.

Look for the high powered Arizona offense to continue pounding. The Diamondbacks win this game big.

Pick: Arizona Diamondbacks -160 over New York Mets

                        • Knup Sports POD back on fire baby! Let's go :)

                          • August 24 - Carolina Panthers at Jacksonville Jaguars
Both teams come in at 1-1 in the preseason but the Jaguars canít seem to score as they produced eight points in their last game. It doesnít matter for the Jaguars whether Chad Henne or Blake Bortles is under center as they just donít have a good offense. Carolina is led by Cam Newton and he has scored 27 points in his limited time on the field. This game goes to the Panthers from start to finish.

                            Pick: Carolina Panthers -1.5

                            • August 26, 2017:

Coach Gary Anderson of Oregon State is entering his third season as their coach and will have to find a new quarterback. He landed on a JUCO player Jake Luton from Idaho. It takes time to connect with new players and this will be the case this year for the Beavers. Colorado State Rams will count on quarterback Nick Stevens and eight returning defensive starters to get coach Mike Boboís team started on the right track.

                              Colorado State -3

                              • August 27 - Chicago Bears at Tennessee Titans

I donít see much improvement from last year when they were 29th in offense and 24th in defense. It doesnít matter who Coach Fox sends out as quarterback. Trubisky or Glennon have no weapons. The Titans and Mariota at home finds them 3rd in run offense last year and 2nd in run defense in the league. I see the Titans covering this at -3.

                                Pick: Tennessee Titans -3
