NHL System Recap

I'll try to recap the system. Keep in mind that my numbers may be a little different than yours due to different amounts of juice.

The system started 1/9/08. I tracked all 3-game roadtrips. After a road team lost, that series was over (no double-dipping on a 6, 7, or 9-game roadtrip).

The system finished 62-2. The 2 losses were both 3-gamers; Dallas 1/29-2/2 that lost 9.3 units, and the killer Toronto trip 3/18-3/22 that lost a whopping 24.2 units. Even with those, the system finished up 20.8 units.

Highlights: won 8.9 units on 2/16, 4.9 units on 2/29, 9.8 units on 3/26.
Lowlights: lost 6.7 units on 2/2 5.1 units on 2/5, and 24.1 units on 3/22.

9 series went to a game 3.

Re: NHL System Recap

I'd say the system works, but it's a tad hard on the digestive system. My personal observations are:
Compared to the NBA system, reduce your units. I did not, and the early February trouble along with the late March trouble came at the same time we were having a lot of chases in the NBA. There were some bets I needed to make according to the stystem that I didn't make due to my bankroll, and those non-plays won. I didn't manage my bankroll properly, and couldn't cover all 3 chases I was in.
I did not see any significant difference between playing 3 game trips and 4 game trips. The Toronto trip lost as a 3-gamer, but I would not have chased to a 4th game if there had been one.

That's my take. Feedback is of course greatly appreciated. Thanks goes to Merrick, Davidaman, Saints51, Bigfella, and everyone else on this thread.

Re: NHL System Recap

Ya it got real hairy that Saturday. I had all but writen off the system but it ended up ok so what ever. Next year i think i will reduce my units to $50 or $75. I started off at $100 this year and by the end was up to $200. After black Saturday they came back down very fast. Thank you Ducks for that overtime goal vs the kings or ....well lets just be happy it worked out. Playoffs are here. Time to make more cash.....i hope!

Re: NHL System Recap

I agree that smaller units are the way to go

I'm going to backtest a system that bets on the home team when they're on a home stand of 3 games or more (maybe 4 games), and would not play the bottom 5 home teams

From a preliminary glance it looks solid and I noticed something else... Many of the games that would've cleared a series also were decided by 2 or more goals, which leads me thinking that some extra units could be squeezed out of the system if the puckline was included. My first thought is that if the goal is to win 1 unit per series, then what would it hurt to tease a series with a 1/2 unit bet on the puckline. If the series clears but by a margin of 1 goal, then the net win is 1/2 a unit, but if it clears by 2 goals or more then the net win is going to be around 2+ units since the puckline usually pays +150 to +250.

Please tell me if you see any flaws in my reasoning...
