Re: game chatter 7/9
sox -1.5(-120) the national leagers who have faced livan have absolutely sick #'s vs him. casey 14-28,drew 11-33 3 hr,lowell 18-50,even lugo is 6-18, rest of sox have hit him well too but in limited ab's so it could be a coincidence. beckett is back in his last 4 he has 28 ip 7 runs(2.27era), and allowed only 30 runners.Ump has been 11-5 in favor of the home teams(if that means anything). He also likes a high scoring game which means Livan cant live just off the edge of the plate , he has to come right at the hitters....BOOM!!
some info on the texas starter...
Michael Ballard makes the first major league start of his career this evening, when the Texas Rangers continue their four-game series with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.
Ballard, pitching in place of Vicente Padilla, who is hampered with a strained neck, also becomes the league-leading 12th different pitcher to start a game for the Rangers this season.
In 15 starts for Double-A Frisco, Ballard was 8-3 with a 3.97 earned run average.
However, after pitching to a 9.68 ERA in four May starts, Ballard was arguably the best pitcher in the Texas League during June, posting a 4-0 mark to go along with a 2.41 ERA in six starts.
In his most recent trip to the hill, Ballard had, perhaps, the best start of his career, as he allowed a run and six hits in 8 1/3 innings. He also struck out six and did not walk a batter.
