My bad on Hillary. I thought you did, but sounds like I was mistaken. Pretty much all you wrote in last post I agree with, or find it hard to disagree with. Basically, people vote for who they like - not who is more qualified (see Bush beating Gore and Kerry).
The one thing I might disagree with is your assessment of McCain. Sure, he's not "evil" per se. Sure, he loves his country. And, he probably feels he is right and just.
That being said, is it not somewhat evil to promote the prosperity of the few at the expense of the many? This is clearly his approach and desire. His intentions may not be evil, but the result is approaching that.
Obama may not be the savior he is made out to be. He may not be the answer to all the problems we have. But, compared to four more years similar to what we have had the last eight, Obama is in fact, a savior.
Guys- this country is fuked no matter who the next president is. McCain is going to keep up with the Bush politics and Obama is going to raise taxes and increase the welfare rolls. I say we all just write Indian Cowboy on our ballots and call it a day

Stock, McCain has you believing the BS! Unless you make over $600,000, then your taxes WILL NOT be raised by Obama. This is what irritates me about the Republicans who use scare tactics and are happy to lie to get the vote. Only the richest 1% are going to see their taxes go up under Obama!
As you can see, those making $2.9M + are going to get relatively screwed under Obama vs. McCain. How someone can honestly think that these people need a tax break is beyond me. And, it's the group that gets the biggest tax break from McCain. Meanwhile, McCain gives under 1% tax break for those making under $38,000 per year. These are the people that need tax relief the most! And, as you can see from above, this group accounts for 60% of all Americans!!!!
This is what I mean by McCain looking out for the few - the already privledged, at the expense of the many - and the needy. It's ridiculous and someone should be laughed out of the race for proposing what is shown above in the left hand column. Yet, middle and lower-class people vote for yahoos like this (i.e. Bush 1, Bush 2, McCain). Drives me nuts! I mean I can understand why those making $600,000 or more would vote for McCain. I may not agree, but I get it. But how people who are in lower tax brackets can do it is something that keeps me up at night. I guess I am just not smart enough to figure that one out.

After reading this thread(esp the Bartender) my girlfriend is gonna bet her dress and shoe allowance on Obama. Its a sure thing people! Nothing but a WIN WIN situation !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What exact legislation and specific legislation has Barack passed and accomplished? His ethics legislation in the Senate does not count as l o b b yists can give money to politicians if they are standing up and eating as compared to sitting down and eating.
I do concede that Barack has the same Tax Plan that John Kerry once proposed back in 2004 and Hillary Clinton proposed 2 years ago with some changes, of course, Barack took that plan and ran on it as his own. It is no surprise he copied 90% of Hillary's Healthcare plan and made minor changes and claimed it as his own as well. It seems his formula for success is to take others' ideas and then have good oratory skills to express it. Not saying that's wrong, just saying that seems to be his formula.
In essence, Let me know of 1 Piece of Significant Legislation that Barack Obama has Written and Passed on his own Merit?
I can name 12 pieces of Legislation John McCain has Passed in reference to Veterans Benefits, Immigration, Energy, Foreign Policy and Campaign Finance Reform.
I can name 6 Pieces of Legislation that Governor Palin has Passed in Sweeping Ethic Reform as she has put Republicans and Democrats in Jail. Plus, she has balanced a budget and been a CEO of a State which Neither Obama, Biden nor McCain for that matter has done. These individuals say "yes" or "no" to a Bill, she has actually DONE Something and Run something.
As Jesse Jackson once stated, it seems all that Barack has Run, is his Mouth. He has never run a State, a City, a Fishing Company or a City Council - all of which Governor Palin has done.
Tell me one thing Barack has "Run", "Been in charge of", besides voting "yes" or "no" on Bills as Senators and copying others' legislation.
Barack is a good person, but his ACCOMPLISHMENTS are extremely weak.
By the way, I can name 6 pieces of legislation Jo Biden has passed including the Violence Against Women Act. Barack has not passed any significant piece of legislation.
I'm not saying he doesn't win, I just want you to know the opposing view to his candidacy as not not everyone can indeed accept his as the Messiah without any legislative accomplishment. Many, many people have their doubts as they judge on track record, his legislative track record is the weakest of any Presidential candidate - including George W. Bush. After all, he has been a Senator for 5 Months and been Running for President for 19 months. Think about it.
Does it not say much that Governor Palin has passed more Significant legislation as Governor in 2 years than Barack has passed in 16 years of elected office? But, he does have the words hope and change to his merit.
And Rusty, nothing in Politics, Betting and Life is a sure thing - to Put your nearly every bit of your extra money on anything is foolish, nevertheless on an election that was a dead heat 4 days ago not to mention the Republican National Convention yet to happen.

I am CEO of a small company. Does that mean I am more qualified to lead this country than Barack Obama? It would seem in your eyes I am, as I have more "executive experience."
Of course I am kidding. But, Palin has extremely little experience for a tiny constituency (barely more people as were in Mile High Stadium for Obama's acceptance speech last week). She has much less experience, on a much smaller stage, than Obama and to try to paint her as more experienced than Obama, Biden, McCain, just because she was Governor vs. a Congressman is something I just can't even entertain.
Some people are just made to lead. They inspire others. They inspire trust and make people want to do things. Obama is one of those people.
You can judge people, not just on their accomplishments, but on their character. What does an effective "executive" do? He/she leads people and gets THEM to do things. Do I want people doing McCain's bidding or Obama's bidding? We have all seen what 8 years of McCain supported ideas has done. I want no part of that in the next four.
Does Obama have a ton of "executive" experience? No. Did George Bush? Yes, and look where that has gotten us.
Bottom line, it's time for a change. McCain is the status quo and the status quo sucks donkey balls.
Obama promises to put this country on a different track. And, with that, I can live with some relative inexperience.

An Open Letter to God, from Michael Moore
Sunday, August 31st, 2008
Dear God,
The other night, the Rev. James Dobson's ministry asked all believers to pray for a storm on Thursday night so that the Obama acceptance speech outdoors in Denver would have to be cancelled.
I see that You have answered Rev. Dobson's prayers -- except the storm You have sent to earth is not over Denver, but on its way to New Orleans! In fact, You have scheduled it to hit Louisiana at exactly the moment that George W. Bush is to deliver his speech at the Republican National Convention.
Now, heavenly Father, we all know You have a great sense of humor and impeccable timing. To send a hurricane on the third anniversary of the Katrina disaster AND right at the beginning of the Republican Convention was, at first blush, a stroke of divine irony. I don't blame You, I know You're angry that the Republicans tried to blame YOU for Katrina by calling it an "Act of God" -- when the truth was that the hurricane itself caused few casualties in New Orleans. Over a thousand people died because of the mistakes and neglect caused by humans, not You.
Some of us tried to help after Katrina hit, while Bush ate cake with McCain and twiddled his thumbs. I closed my office in New York and sent my entire staff down to New Orleans to help. I asked people on my website to contribute to the relief effort I organized -- and I ended up sending over two million dollars in donations, food, water, and supplies (collected from thousands of fans) to New Orleans while Bush's FEMA ice trucks were still driving around Maine three weeks later.
But this past Thursday night, the Washington Post reported that the Republicans had begun making plans to possibly postpone the convention. The AP had reported that there were no shelters set up in New Orleans for this storm, and that the levee repairs have not been adequate. In other words, as the great Ronald Reagan would say, "There you go again!"
So the last thing John McCain and the Republicans needed was to have a split-screen on TVs across America: one side with Bush and McCain partying in St. Paul, and on the other side of the screen, live footage of their Republican administration screwing up once again while New Orleans drowns.
So, yes, You have scared the Jesus, Mary and Joseph out of them, and more than a few million of your followers tip their hats to You.
But now it appears that You haven't been having just a little fun with Bush & Co. It appears that Hurricane Gustav is truly heading to New Orleans and the Gulf coast. We hear You, O Lord, loud and clear, just as we did when Rev. Falwell said You made 9/11 happen because of all those gays and abortions. We beseech You, O Merciful One, not to punish us again as Pat Robertson said You did by giving us Katrina because of America's "wholesale slaughter of unborn children." His sentiments were echoed by other Republicans in 2005.
So this is my plea to you: Don't do this to Louisiana again. The Republicans got your message. They are scrambling and doing the best they can to get planes, trains and buses to New Orleans so that everyone can get out. They haven't sent the entire Louisiana National Guard to Iraq this time -- they are already patrolling the city streets. And, in a nod to I don't know what, Bush's head of FEMA has named a man to help manage the federal government's response. His name is W. Michael Moore. I kid you not, heavenly Father. They have sent a man with both my name AND W's to help save the Gulf Coast.
So please God, let the storm die out at sea. It's done enough damage already. If you do this one favor for me, I promise not to invoke your name again. I'll leave that to the followers of Rev. Dobson and to those gathering this week in St. Paul.

Check out the Bush/McCain cake link. Worst natural disaster in US history and this is important to these guys.
IC, you can't be serious when you say Palin has executive experience. 65% of her executive experience is being in charge of a town with less people than live on my STREET! She is the most inexperienced person on a major party ticket in history. A complete pandering pick. Insulting to all women to think he made this pick so they would trade parties and vote for her when she is the complete opposite of Hillary idealogically. You are missing the point of Obama completely. He has not championed that much legislation. What he does is inspire people. He will lead the revolution away from the dependence on foreign oil. He is an incredibly smart man who has never pandered to any special interest group and always fights for what he thinks is right. And if you don't think he has always spoken this way, check out him speaking in 1995. You will notice the exact same language he uses today. I can see it now. Put yourself in the Vice Presidential Debate. Sarah Palin will repeat her comparison of herself to Hillary Rodham Clinton - "now that glass ceiling can be broken."
Now it's Joe Biden's turn to speak...
"I know Hillary Clinton. Hillary Clinton is a friend of mine, and governor, you are no Hillary Clinton."
