Poker Question

Please answer honestly.

Is there anyone cashing out on a regular basis and if so where.

I play a lot of online poker and in the past "prior to the last 8 months" I have cashed out a lot of money. I don't think that my skills have diminished and I don't beleive in luck on a long term basis. Skill will always prevail in the end.

During the days of Party Poker and shortly thereafter I made a good second income playing online. The last eight months or so has been a nightmare of rediculous bad beats.

I stood up for the integrity of Poker Stars a few months back but I am now beggining to wonder as I have seen a lot of very questionable stuff. Last night I was playing one of my favorite tourneys and watched a guy absolutely catch everything. Q7 off and caught a full house, J4 off also a full house, AA every single time someone had KK, A7 suited caught the flush. Just to menion a few. This happened 2:30 into the tourney, by this time most of these idiots are gone..... and no one is that lucky. My final hand I had A Q suited and flopped my Q and pushed because he was an idiot. He called with K2 off and caught his K. Come on.... Not bitching I just want to know if it is just me.

Thanks For your responses

Re: Poker Question

To answer your question, no. And I have noticed the same at sportsbook.com and a couple of other sites. I had pocket aces one night and this guy had K 5 off suit. The flop came and I grabbed another ace, he got a K. What comes next after the flop, you guessed it K K. That was the beginning of me watching this guy nearly double the amount of money he had brought to the table in about half an hour. Now I don't know if the poker rooms are playing favorites or if they have phantom players or what, but some shady $hit has been happening as of late.

Re: Poker Question

I play about 6-8k hands a week (not that much when multitabling) and I have found that when I get bad beats I seem to dwell on them a little more. I'm not naive enough to think there's no funny business goin down at all, but in my opinion because you play so many more hands online than live, as string of bad beats will hit all of us eventually (and usually at the worst times). I really don't think you can go wrong with Stars because they pay, and really, that's the bottom line. Other rooms that I like are Full-Tilt, Cake, Carbon and Doyle's....Oh and MTT at BoDog because of the big overlays. I certainly don't win all the time, but I withdraw more frequently and larger amounts than I deposit and these rooms pay although I've got wind in other forums of bad slow pays from BoDog lately. I never keep enough in any room that I would cry over if it were suddenly unavailable to me because of the tenuous nature of the U.S. laws at the moment so I would say that is a bigger concern to me than any bots or house players etc.

Re: Poker Question

I agree with KKoz in that online we see SO many more hands than in live action, that it is guaranteed we will see more strange sh*t and bad beats. We should also have more of these go in our favor. But, it's human nature to pass over those (boy aren't I skillful) but dwell on the ones that go against us. I know I do this. I think we all do it.

That being said, can we be sure there's no funny business going on? No we can't.

Re: Poker Question

Thanks for the responses guys.

I totally agree with the number of hands seen the more crazy sh1t you are going to see. It just seems odd that I see so many idiots late in tourneys constantly catching crazy hands.

Just one more quick story and I will let it go. 8 months ago I was on a bit of a cold streak. I hadn't cashed out in a couple of months. I usually only cash out when I have it up to a few thousand dollars. I decided to play using my sons account. He likes to drink a bit much and plays very loooooose. I cashed out several times over a 3 week period before my run ended.

In saying this do any of you think they have a balancing system of sorts to allow lessor players to somewhat maintain?

Re: Poker Question

A balancing system would seem counterintuitive at a certain point, right?
seems like it would be good for getting new players, but not keeping them around.
also, how do they figure that out? if you're a lesser player, than you're losing, and it would seem like there would be no balancing system. unless they have some system where after you loose a certain number of games something kicks in and helps you out, but still, seems unlikely.

Re: Poker Question

i used to play poker online for a living up until recently because i own a business now with my partner in chicago and it takes up a lot of my time. 20% guaranteed on your money in 12 months or less if anyone interested (please PM me or email TheActionKid@yahoo.com for details). However, i can say that there is a lot of variance in poker, but in the long run these sites are 100% legit. there is no point for them to try to rig anything because they make guaranteed money with the rake at no risk, so why would they try anything funny? I just won a tourny on pokerstars for 77k google: TheActionKid Triple Shootout if you'd like to read about it! So all in all, I have been playing online poker for the past 5 years and have consistently cashed out. I did hit several strings of "bad beats" and downswings but this happens to every poker player, no one runs good 100% of the time!

Hope everyone is doing well, i went 8-1 this week in NFL but only posted my strongest plays on here and went 4-0 so congrats on those who took em!
