Poker League?

One of the members, doc44 brought up a good idea. Would anyone be interested in a poker league or is the current format of contests will suffice? Is anyone familiar with how such poker leagues work or have seen them work elsewhere? In other words, will a league format interest or some, or just continuing to add more and more prize money as the site grows interest people? Please feel free to respond.

Re: Poker League?

Have 2 tournaments a week with a set limit of people... say 20.

Each place you finish earns you points.

Most points after so many weeks wins whatever.

Id do that.

Re: Poker League?

If the format is limited as Rainman mentioned that may be difficult as there always seem to be numerous more people playing than who participate in the lounge. There would have to be more restrictions on who can play.

Has anyone seen the Pokerstars challenge they show on fox sports? they have a format for what seemed to be a poker league. They would have preliminary rounds where you can earn points, but in order to advance you had to achieve a certain amount of points (as rain mentioned). Once the preliminaries are over chips are dispersed based on points and they play in smaller tables with the higher point players playing the the lower point players. Then it similar to a NCAA bracket; Winner of Table 1 plays winner of player 2 and so forth.

Just a suggestion

Re: Poker League?

I would be interested in a points system league format. I think that it is great to limit losses while there is still something on the line to play for.

Re: Poker League?

Hey IC
I'm real interested in a poker leauge and I kind of go along with newballa21 comments about how it's done on Fox Sports. However I think that it is impossable to get any kind of a feel on your opponents play that I would like to see the down cards of all players once the hand is over. At least that way you get a feel on how people play. jack

I'd do that, too. Hopefully some sort of points system would keep it to just active members. Maybe someone out there is also part of a poker forum that hosts a tourney?

I'd prefer Bodog, too

Re: Poker League?

I SWERVIN4 would like to propose a league where we would play a set amount of games / or perhaps make it a on going monthly points tournament like I have been involved with in the past. The tournament director and points keeper or all the moderators and admin here get some sponsors to donate t-shirts ,button timers and other prizes to the top 3 or how ever many places the director of the tournament see's fit...There is so many ways to to this ..B elow is a league I played in that the players with asterisk besides there name put up $30.00 AND SENT IT IN TO THE DIRECTOR OF THE TOURNEY. THROUGH PAYPAL ACCOUNT.. AFTER the end of the set amount of games that money was played for in a championship game at a site where there was top 3 IN POINTS FROM EACH LEAGUE GAMES AT DIFFERENT SITES FOR INSTANCE... BODOG //POKERSTARS/// AND FULLTILT.. .. The top 3 point earners for the 3 different sites played in the championship game at a pr edertermined site....thats where the $30.00 fee come into play that was the prize pool ..Plus the site it was played at also added prizes as well..However to keep traffic and the games running smoothley , there was like a $10.00 buy in to the set amount of games.. The games where open to all the members even though they didn't PAY THE LEAGUE FEE'S TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP AT THE END OF THE SET AMOUNT OF GAMES... They were just playing to win the money for the buyin of the game itself........T o make it alot simpler would be good to drop down the buyin to about $5.50 to $7.70and make it a monthly tournament with no fee's to pay at 1st ,, then after the monthly points tournament was running nicely , we could move on from that point!!!!!...From past experience this level of buy in will keep the tournaments with paticipants and not breaking the bank and to win some decent loot along the way when you you get 50 to 60 players to play...Below is the scoring system that was used in the aforementioned tournament I played in as a League Game ..............In the Your best 10 scores for 12 weeks will be used to make your final score. Points earned will be based on the Rankings formula: ((x-y)/x) * 100 = Score (x=players, y=place). ........I myself would be willing to play at BODOG as a monthly points tournament.....SWERVIN4 at this point brings to the floor and Nominate TACOOFMIIDAJ FOR THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR AND HEADMASTER OF THE POINTS CALCULATION AS WELL...Also would like to see it a monthly points tournament and later after it starts, we could end up having a yearly game, of the monthly winners play for a player of the yearstatus and be CROWNED POKER CAPPER OF THE YEAR...

1. Illcolls - $150

Re: Poker League?

You would be suprised at the traffic that CAPPERS could generate FROM having private games at BODOG.. Players see the private buyins and then they want to play in our games then they will google or see the Cappers name under private tourney and it will create traffic as well..Traffic equals more buying into the games and better pots with buyins at between $5.50 to $7.70or $10.$1.00 buy ins pbly be good to do a poll ,and put this to the Cappers Players to vote ..what buy in level would they prefer ....swervin4 spreading the karma i'm out... I wished the whole CAPPERS LOUNGE HAD A FORUMSET UP WITH ALL THE FORUMS BEING SEPERATED ALLON ONE PAGE THEN THREAD TO GET TO STICKYS OF THE DIFFERENT FORUM.. /POKER STRATEGY POKER ROOMPROMOTIONS BE ON SAME FPAGE THEN DIFFERENT THREADS/SAME WITH THE OTHER FORMAT OF THE SITE .. THE LAYOUT CAN BE KINDA CONFUSING AT TIMES IF YA WANT TO FOLLOW UP ON WHAT YOU POSTED AND LOOKING FOR OTHERS POST AS WELL...JUST MY OPINION EVERY1

Re: Poker League?

Swerv,

You can view as separate forums by just clicking the appropriate forum in the "Go to Forum:" section at the top right of the page.

The "mixed" home page is just there as a convenience for folks who want to see the latest threads from all forums. But, if you prefer to view by specific forum's just use that Go to Forum tool.
