  • NHL Playoffs Daily Thread

Last night's NHL games went mostly as many thought they would. There are disagreements a bit on the Wild/Blues series but the others are more clear cut. Tonight we see three series that have definite favorites in them. The Washington Capitals are -250 over the Maple Leafs, Blackhawks -180 facing Nashville and the Anaheim Ducks -175 on the ice with Calgary. There is no way I can bet the underdogs in those contests. Any thoughts?

    Hockey action for today-

San Jose +140 vs. Edmonton -150
Edmonton squandered a two-goal lead in the first game of the playoffs.

St. Louis +163 vs Minnesota -200
Jake Allen of the Blues stopped 51 shots on Wednesday. He is back in net tonight.

New York Rangers +130 vs Montreal -150
The Rangers had the best road record of any team in the NHL during the season. That carried over to the playoffs in Wednesday's contest.

    Columbus +145 vs Pittsburgh -165

Veteran Marc-Andre Fleury will be back in the crease in place of regular Matt Murray

I am going to have a difficult time not betting on the Blues after they took game one. The bottomline for me is I will chance a sneak win from the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight with my bet.

    Good Luck!

Nashville has a shot. Good start last night. Blackhawks as an overall team are overrated. Several really good playsers but their depth is. A problem.

        Odds for Today

Ottawa vs Boston- I got here a bit late and it starts momentarily so not commenting on it

        Nashville +155 vs Chicago -179
Look for the Hawks to get back to evening the series

        Calgary +135 vs Anaheim -160
        The Ducks win

        Toronto +215 vs Washington -240
I would love to bet the underdog but just don't see a win

I am not convinced. The Blackhawks have lost six in a row including the last three in the regular season. Toews has an 11-game scoreless playoff streak and Patrick Kane only has one goal in last 9 playoff contests. On the other side we have Predators goalie Pekka Rinne getting back-to-back shutouts.

Go Predators. Blackhawks are in a major funk. They haven't scored. But, I do think they win tonight.

                      Thursday's Games:
Canadiens are -145 over Rangers; I'll take Montreal at home
Penguins are -194 at home over Blue Jackets. Give me the Penguins to wrap that up.
Nashville is -121 to finish the Blackhawks. I'll take Chicago as an underdog.
Edmonton is -128 over San Jose. In a tight one, I'll take the Sharks as an underdog.
