MAY 30, 2017 - PLAY OF THE DAY

The first place New York Yankees are on the road at the Baltimore Orioles. The Orioles came away with the win on Monday to snap their long losing streak. The Yankees are still 29-19 on the season, and 3 games ahead of Boston. The Orioles come into the game with a 26-23 overall record, which is third place in the American League East.

The Yankees are pitching Luis Severino in this game. Severino is 3-2 on the season with a 3.11 earned run average. The 23 year old from Dominican Republic has struck out 61 batters, while walking just 14 this season. Severino has thrown 55 innings, and has a 1.05 WHIP.

For Baltimore, they are using Chris Tillman. Tillman has been on the disabled list this season. He is 1-1 on the season with a 4.43 earned run average. In 20.1 innings, Tillman has struck out 15 batters, and walked 9.

Look for the Yankees offense to get going in this game. Tillman may get through the first round of hitters okay, but after that, New York is set to tee off. Look for Severino to be pretty strong in this game, and the Yankees win.

    New York Yankees -121

MAY 31, 2017 - PLAY OF THE DAY

The Pittsburgh Penguins jumped out to a 3-0 lead over Nashville in Game 1. The Predators battled back and tied the game, only to see Pittsburgh score the final two goals of the game and win. The Penguins won Game 1 despite coming away with just 16 shots on goal in the game.

Pekka Rinne was not good in the game. Rinne saved just 11 shots, after having an amazing first 16 games of the postseason. The Predators offense was on point, as they kept attacking Pittsburgh.

You got to think the Pittsburgh Penguins are going to be better in this game. The Penguins have two of the best offensive players in the league. Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby are both fantastic, and look to have a great game here.

Look for the Pittsburgh Penguins to win this game. The Penguins got to play better in this game. They are lucky that they won Game 1. Now, they are going to Nashville with a 2-0 lead.

      Pittsburgh Penguins -140

JUNE 1, 2017 - PLAY OF THE DAY

The New York Yankees are in first place in the American League East. They will face a Toronto team that is hanging around, despite being in last place. The Yankees are 30-19, while the Blue Jays come into the game with a 25-27 record.

The Yankees are sending their big lefthander C.C. Sabathia to the mound. Sabathia has had a nice start to the season, with a 5-2 record. He will face Marco Estrada of the Toronto Blue Jays. Estrada is 4-2 on the season, with a 3.15.

Look for a relatively low scoring game, with the bullpen’s playing a part in the decision for both teams. In the end, Toronto scores late and comes away with the win in this game. Take the Blue Jays at home.

        Toronto Blue Jays -135

June 2 - Houston Astros vs. Texas Rangers

Dallas Keuchel and the Houston Astros take on Yu Darvish and the Texas Rangers. This is not only a really good pitching match-up, but this is an American League West rivalry game as well.

Keuchel is unbeaten on the season. The lefthander is 8-0 on the season, despite missing a start with an injury. He will face Yu Darvish, who is 5-3 on the season.

The Astros are coming with an absolute butt kicking over the Minnesota Twins, where they scored 40 runs in three games. Houston has turned into the top scoring team in all of Major League Baseball.

Darvish and the Rangers are doing what they can do get back into the American League West standings. The Rangers are still under .500, after a really slow start.

Look for Darvish and the Rangers to outduel Keuchel and the Astros here.

          Pick: Texas Rangers +107

            Nashville Predators vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

The Nashville Predators have their backs to the wall in this game. They trail 2-0 in the Stanley Cup Finals to the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Predators were the better team in Game 1, but got smoked in Game 2.

The Predators also saw Pekka Rinne get pulled as the goaltender in the Game 2 loss. Rinne has been sensational this postseason before the Stanley Cup Finals started. There is some question on who will be the starting goalie in this game.

Look for a desperate and hungry Nashville Predators to come away with the win in this game. The Predators get on the board early, and come away with the home win to keep the series interesting.

            Pick: Nashville Predators -129

              Winner last night!

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Chicago Cubs

In a battle of two teams that have struggled to hit as of late, the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs play their final game of a three game series at Wrigley Field. The Cubs have won the first two games of the series, despite the Cardinals leading both games.

The Cardinals are throwing Michael Wacha to the mound. After a pretty solid start, Wacha is 2-3 on the season with an ERA just under 4.00.

For the Cubs, Kyle Hendricks is going to pitch. Hendricks, who was a Cy Young candidate a season ago has not been as good this season. Hendricks is 4-3 on the season with a 3.75 ERA.

Look for the bullpen’s to decide this. The Cardinals avoid the sweep and score a couple runs late to win the game.

              Pick: St. Louis Cardinals +146

June 5, 2017- Play of the Day Toronto Blue Jays vs. Oakland Athletics

The Toronto Blue Jays and Oakland Athletics will start a series out West on Monday. The Blue Jays are trying to chase down .500, and then possibly move up the American League East standings. Toronto is sending J.A. Happ to the mound. The Cy Young candidate from a season ago has yet to win a game this season. Happ is 0-3.

Sean Manaea will throw for the Oakland Athletics. Manaea is 4-3 on the season with a 3.91 earned run average. Manaea has struck out 54 batters in just over 48 innings thrown this season.

Look for the Toronto offense, which has the tendency to be hit or miss, to be hit. The Blue Jays rock Manaea and Happ picks up his first win of the 2017 season.

Pick: Toronto Blue Jays +108 over Oakland Athletics

June 6 Play of the Day - New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox are on the road at the New York Yankees. The Yankees are in first place in the American League East with a 32-22 record. New York has been in first place in the division for several weeks. The Yankees are coming off a road loss in Toronto on Sunday.

For the Boston Red Sox, they are 31-25 on the season. The Red Sox won their final two games of a series against Baltimore. That moved the Red Sox to second place in the American League East, and just 2 games behind New York. Boston has moved 1.5 games ahead of the Orioles.

Drew Pomeranz goes for the Boston Red Sox in this game. He is 5-3 on the season with a 4.24 earned run average. He will take on Masahiro Tanaka. The righthander for the Yankees is 5-5 on the season, but holds a 6.34 earned run average.

Look for Tanaka to throw one of his best outings of the season. Tanaka is ready for the big game against a big rival. New York wins this game at home over the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday.

                  Pick: New York Yankees -123

June 7 Play of the Day - Golden State Warriors vs. Cleveland Cavaliers

Stop with the thoughts that the Cleveland Cavaliers have a chance to win one of two games at home. The Cleveland Cavaliers are not going to win a game in this series. The Golden State Warriors have won 14 straight postseason games in a row for a reason. The Warriors are scoring, and scoring at will.

It seems like the Cavaliers have no real plan to stop the Warriors, and especially Mr. Kevin Durant. If they do make a new plan to stop Durant, good luck slowing down Steph Curry as well. The Golden State Warriors scored 133 points in the Game 2 win, and while they may not reach that in this game, they are going to light up the scoreboard.

Look for the Golden State Warriors to win this game, and move one win away from their second NBA title in three years. The Warriors win this game with ease, and cover the small spread they were given.

                    Pick: Golden State Warriors -3

June 8 Play of the Day - Houston Astros at Kansas City Royals

The Houston Astros had their winning streak snapped by the Royals with a come from behind thriller. Now, they will play the final game of their series, as Lance McCullers goes for the Houston Astros against Jason Hammel of the Kansas City Royals.

McCullers is 6-1 on the season with a 2.71. He and Dallas Keuchel have been a great combination of starting pitchers for the Astros. Houston sits with the best record in all of Major League Baseball, and the top scoring team in all of Major League Baseball.

Jason Hammel is in his first season with the Kansas City Royals. He came over from the Chicago Cubs, and has struggled. Hammel is 2-6 on the season with an ERA of under 6.00.

Look for McCullers to be sharp again. He will slow down and take down a pretty weak hitting Kansas City team.

                      Pick: Houston Astros -175

June 9 Play of the Day - Minnesota Twins at San Francisco Giants

The Minnesota Twins are on the road at the San Francisco Giants. The Twins are competing at the top of the American League Central, while the Giants are one of the worst teams in the National League.

The Twins are sending Ervin Santana to the mound. Santana is commonly known for the guy that gave up Albert Pujols’ 600th homerun in his career. He will face Matt Moore for the Giants.

Santana has been pretty good, with a 2.44 earned run average. Matt Moore has not had a real strong season. He is 2-6 with a 5.22. Look for the Twins to beat around Moore and take away a road win.

Minnesota Twins +109 over San Francisco Giants

June 10 Play of the Day:

                          Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Milwaukee Brewers

Two teams that are having really good seasons will get together at Chase Field. The Arizona Diamondbacks started the series with a 37-25 record, which was second to the Rockies in the National League West. The Milwaukee Brewers started the series as the leaders of the National League Central. Milwaukee started just 32-29.

The Arizona offense will get a chance to tee off against Junior Guerra in this game. He is 1-0 on the season with a 1.83. But, he has only thrown 19.2 innings. Zack Godley will pitch for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Godley is 1-1 on the season, also with a low earned run average.

Look for the ERA’s to go up in this game. The Arizona offense is really good, and going to take advantage of Guerra. The Diamondbacks have several guys that can mash, including Jake Lamb and Paul Goldschmidt. The Diamondbacks are going to win this game over the Milwaukee Brewers.

Arizona Diamondbacks -131 over Milwaukee Brewers

June 13 Play of the Day New York Mets vs. Chicago Cubs:

Jon Lester and the Chicago Cubs have lost four out of their last five games. The Cubs lost three out of four to the Colorado Rockies, and then lost the opener in this series. For the Mets, maybe they are starting to figure some things out. Zack Wheeler and the New York Mets are seeking their fifth straight win.

Lester has a high earned run average, for his standards. He is also 3-4 on the season. He is one of many Cubs pitchers that just has not gotten the job done for the defending World Series champions.

Zack Wheeler is 3-3, with a 3.45 earned run average. Wheeler has pretty good stuff, and with the way the Cubs are hitting, do not be surprise if he keeps the offense at bay.

We are going to go with the hotter hand, and the hotter team in this game.

New York Mets +118 over Chicago Cubs

June 14 Play of the Day: Cleveland Indians w/ Los Angeles Dodgers

It’s Corey Kluber for the Cleveland Indians, and it’s Brandon McCarthy for the Los Angeles Dodgers. The ace for Cleveland is 5-2 on the season, with a 4.38 earned run average. Kluber is a former Cy Young award winner and has nasty stuff. He is going up against a hit or miss Los Angeles offense.

Brandon McCarthy is on the hill for the Dodgers. He has been pretty solid as well, with a 5-3 record. This game has the tendency to be a pretty low scoring game with these two guys on the mound. The Dodgers have the lowest earned run average in all of Major League Baseball, and much of that is because of their great bullpen.

This game should not see a ton of bullpen, as Kluber is going to go deep in this game. McCarthy should have a pretty good outing as well. Cleveland will need to get out on top in this game, and if they do, they will be in great shape. Look for Kluber to keep the Los Angeles offense at bay and win this game.

Cleveland Indians -151 over Los Angeles Dodgers

June 15 Play of the Day: Oakland Athletics vs. New York Yankees

Sonny Gray and the Oakland Athletics will take on the New York Yankees on Thursday night. There is no doubt that one team is much better than the other. The problem is – the Oakland Athletics have a pitcher on the mound that has the ability to shut down the opposing offense.

Even the red-hot offense of the New York Yankees. Aaron Judge continues to bomb baseball’s all over the ballpark. But on Thursday night, Sonny Gray is going to use his nasty stuff from the left side and pick up a win.

The Oakland Athletics beat the New York Yankees

Oakland Athletics +118 over New York Yankees
